Flower Fishing

One of the cool things about a lot of the fishing spots this time of year.. they've got some pretty dope flowers!

It's funny, as I get older, I tend to try and appreciate way more things than I used to when I was younger. One of those things has for sure been flowers! I wonder if it's just one of those things that happens when you get older? I tend to see a lot of older people appreciating flowers LOL. I'm certainly not in the "old people" territory.. unless you ask my son, but I'm getting up there!

Flowers are one of the things that I look forward to for several reasons. One of them is that it signals the really nice rebirth of life all around us. The winter is an important and necessary time but it can be challenging to deal with. The bitter cold temperatures, the crazy lack of sunlight and all that. It ends up being a pretty challenging time of year if you are one who loves to be out in the sun!

As spring comes along, and things start to freshen up, the flowers are going crazy! The pollinators certainly appreciate it.. because the flowers provide much needed food and liquids for the little fellas. I think it's a decent exchange, really! The other thing they do, at least for me, is give people something really cool to look at! I think the color profiles on them is really quite something.

In some of the most random spots, you might find some of the most beautiful flowers! The fishing spot here is one we go to regularly, but it's a bit of a hole in the mud if you know what I mean. It's not groomed, there is mud all over the area, and yet this remarkable beautiful flower is just sprouting up, showing off it's stuff!

Sometimes, when the fish just ain't biting for shit, which they unfortunately were not this day, I might go around and just look to see what cool flowers I can find lol it worked out on this trip that's for sure!

I think it's important to take a small step back and do these things every now and then. It's funny, thinking about the really old saying "stop and smell the roses" and how relevant and important it seems to me now.

Life is incredibly chaotic and busy, where we have very little time to slow down and do things. A wise, older saying like stop and smell the roses, or in this case, flowers that are not roses but I don't know their names.. it's a pretty decent idea! We have to relax a little bit in the super chaotic environment we are living in today!

I actually try to slow my life whenever I can, e.g. outside of work hours. It just feels good to be less stressful and we can live in the present and just enjoy the moment. Or maybe I just prefer a slower pace of life hehe!
