Icy Monochrome Monday

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to share some photos from a recent hike of the cool ice formations!

Icy Monochrome Monday

The little man and I went on a nice hike the other day and I was surprised that there was a decent amount of ice around. We haven't had the coldest weather in the month of January which turns into not having as much snow or ice as we do on normal years. I'm not really too worried about that, as I know everything is cyclical. There were horrendous frozen winters 100 years ago and winters that had barely any snow in the same timeframe.

We did get some cold weather and it allowed for things to freeze in this lake, at least around the shoreline! We were walking around and I saw some of the sections of ice and wanted to snap a few photos of them. I love these types of formations!

What's cool about these is the water is slowly moving and it was remarkable to hear it. I wasn't sure what the noise was, I thought it was raining but when we were walking I didn't see any rain drops. We came closer to the ice here and the noise was subtle but it was clear that it was the ice sheets here moving in the flow. That was pretty cool!

There are certainly lots of little sheets of ice that got blown over. It is quite an interesting look to see it! I wish I got some pictures peeking underneath the ice but these ones here are at least interesting enough so I'm glad about that lol. Seeing them in black and white is cool, there's certainly something about ice stuff in black and white that is quite interesting for me.

The ice flows were all over the place here. I was surprised to see so much ice but this is the dark side of the lake, with the sun setting behind the trees behind me so the water here is colder than it is in other areas, allowing for these interesting ice formations. I know when the spring comes and early summer, the little man and I are going to be back here for fishing! It's not a spot we've been to before and I always love getting to explore new lakes and ponds. This one has some really good areas that I know would be sweet to get around with some waders.

In winter everything freezes to a razor as we see even the water looks like ice. I like cold weather more and love to see snowfall because people used to enjoy a lot in snowfall. What is the current temperature in your area?

We’ve had some different temperatures in the area, one of the times it got to -11 Fahrenheit which was the coldest of my lifetime! I don’t even know what that is in Celsius haha like -30 Celsius?

The ice was beautiful indeed!

Those overlapping sheets of ice look really neat. It's amazing how it's in motion. Is it a lake with a river in and out? Great that you're going for walks with you son in this, hmm, let's just say 'not so nice weather'.

That’s a pond and I think there’s a River of some kind that’s got some fluctuation in the lake which is cool. This seems to be a windy side which is likely why it’s behaving like this.

Sorry got my ass handed to me at work this week! Lol haven’t been able to get to posts at night, been working in the evening as well!

All good. Don't sweat it. There's a reason I have posted so little again. We're nearing our FY end, so...
