Keeping Some Kindling Available

Hi fellow Lions,

Today I wanted to appreciate being able to, for the first time, have some extra Hive available after Power Up Day!

Keeping Some Kindling Available

One of the things that I have been meaning to do but haven't been able to successfully pull it off, is having some liquid assets around in my account as a way to be ready and poised if things take off.

Having some kindling, or some small stuff around, to prepare for a fire is very important in the physical world. You can't generally light a fire on a few big logs without there being some small bits of kindling lying around, dry of course, in order to get that space hot enough for a fire and some coals going, to which you add said logs ontop of it as the fire grows.

The same metaphor can be said for an account on Hive to some extent. It's absolutely great to be able to power up all of your liquid Hive every month or sock away the HBD that you can, so that you are able to maximize your potential rewards in various ways. There are other things to keep in mind though, and for me the fluctuation of the price of Hive is an important one! The Hive price is crab walking sideways right now and I'm definitely enjoying it because it allows me to sell my HBD for more Hive per trade than if the price was double what it is right now. Doubling the price of Hive certainly isn't an issue but it does decrease the liquid Hive that you are able to obtain per unit of trade in HBD. These are good problems to have for sure!

For me though, one of the things that I am very glad that I was able to do way back when Hive hit the ATH was that I had some Hive sitting there liquid, waiting for Power Up Day so I had some stuff sitting there. When Hive hit up to 3.5x in value, I was wicked excited to hop onto the market and trade that Hive for HBD! I tripled my Hive when the prices of things came back down to lower levels and I didn't make a crazy amount of Hive off the deal, but tripling your Hive isn't a bad thing at all! LOL. Since then, I've been trying to gather some liquid stuff in order to take advantage of that situation occurring again however I haven't been able to do that very much, which is okay.

This recent Power Up Day though, I was actually doing really well when it comes to the amount of liquid Hive that I was able to generate! I landed on #hpud with 276 liquid Hive waiting to be used! I then just took 150 of it and powered up my main account here and 20 to 2 alt accounts that I'm trying to slowly build up as a way to spread the Hive Power to others instead of having it so centrally located. This meant that I was left with 76 Hive to store away for the future!

I would love if I'm able to increase my available liquid Hive by 75 each month, or 100 if it was a really good month, so that I can have a few hundred or even a thousand Hive sitting there for when the market upswing eventually comes and I can sell the Hive for HBD and see what I can do with flipping the stuff! I don't plan on doing anything in the physical world with the digital assets that I've got here, I would much rather power it up and grow the stake as much as I can. I'm able to do a lot more supporting of other content creators out there when I'm able to grow my stake and I really enjoy that. I remember a conversation I had with Daltono a year or two ago, where I picture that sometime in the future with Hive, I'm able to log in and distribute 5-10$ in Hive rewards to people all over the world, people who could use that type of money to stay afloat, feed their family and survive. It might seem egalitarian or potential for abuse or something but for me, I am aiming for the lofty and positive goal for helping others as much as I can, in the ways that I can.

Doing some trades and increasing my Hive Power holdings as much as I can gets me one step closer to achieving those types of goals! I know I've been incredibly lucky this year with a decent amount of my posts doing well enough to help generate me some good rewards which ultimately go right back into the account stake here. I would love to be able to not power down any Hive for many years if all goes well, and that means adding quite a bit more to my stake! Would it be possible to get up to whale status in 7 years? Unlikely in all honesty, but it's never a bad thing to have a lofty goal! I aimed to have 25k Hive Power by the end of last year and I made that goal. Now I'm sitting at a little over 31k, with a goal of getting to 35k for the end of the year. If I'm able to turn around months like I have been able to recently, I would certainly be able to achieve that and then maybe a little more.

At the end of the day though, it's about enjoying what I'm doing and having fun along the way. Being overly calculating isn't a good thing because then it turns into more of a work thing than anything else which isn't good. Gotta keep it light! Let's see how much liquid Hive I can save before the next Power Up Day!

That's great! It's important to keep a good amount powered up. The long term benefits of this are incredible.

I myself will not be able to do what I will do every month in the same way for the next few months as the situation in Pakistan worsens and I am forced to withdraw money.

Yes that’s unfortunate but the good thing is you saved as long as you could and will be able to get back to saving one day!
