Monochrome Monday Pier

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to share some photos from the pier we recently visited while on vacation!

Monochrome Monday Pier

Going on vacation is a lot of fun for us in many ways. We tend to do and explore all kinds of different things and we wouldn't really say we do the "traditional" vacation thing where many people will pick a theme park or something and go there with the family and spend all kinds of money and do things like everyone else. Not to say that there is something inherently wrong with that, because in some ways there isn't, we can spend our money and time however we wish.

For us though, vacation is usually a lot different! When we went on the most recent vacation, we toured many parts of the country and did some things that we never did before and one of them was fishing from a pier! I wanted to turn some of the shots into Monochrome from that adventure so that we can share some, and discuss the pier stuff in a future post.

The beach we were on was pretty damn long and it had a few piers that were jutting out several hundred feet into the water so that people can come here and have some fun fishing into the ocean but not necessarily needing to do it from a boat. I would love to try and find something like that where we live but I sadly don't think that is the case, with the weather and geography being a little more intense. I did read somewhere that the other challenge is the cost. Real estate on a beach like this is obviously expensive so the owners of the pier need to pay a lot of money to stay in business!

One thing that I found fascinating about the pier fishing pictures here is that they look so gloomy and dramatic in black and white! With the steel gray sky that we had that day, which definitely made the day pretty damn cold, having the pictures in black and white makes them look a lot more compelling than they are in color in my opinion lol. There is something about the aged wood, grey sky and black and white that makes it look like a pretty darn dramatic picture even though it's pretty tame.

At any rate though, the pier was a beautiful place even though the day wasn't the best. We got to do a bunch of cool things and met some interesting people, although in this spot here there was really only the one lady there that was a good chat. The other pier we visited was much more vibrant than this one and that ended up working out well for us as we will get into in the next post on the topic!

I like the black and white here with the really long distance of the dock. From what I remember this was a 900 foot pier! That's pretty damn big lol and we walked from top to bottom of it. It was definitely a good experience as we got to catch our first ocean fish and got some great clean, fresh air!

Thanks dude! What felt like it was going on forever was yesterday hahaha. I got 90 minutes of sleep Monday night and had to work. That was brutal!

I loved them in black and white as well! I’ve got some more coming up I think!
