Post Scheduling Benefits: Sleep

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to appreciate a simple but effective aspect of Hive and the blogging aspect: Post Scheduling!

Post Scheduling Benefits: Sleep

One of the things that I've been able to do for a while is get a post scheduled and put out onto the blockchain every day for nearly 2 years, two years this coming end of December. That's a remarkable achievement for me that's for sure! I don't have many things in my life that I can say I've done every day for two years besides work, be married to my wife and have a child. Everything else is sporadic lol.

With that commitment that I've had, one of the things that I've had to sacrifice a lot of times is my sleep. This isn't a bad trade-off for me because I've got a lot of things that I do during any given day, cook, clean, work, exercise and all those other things that we should be doing to stay active and engaged with life. With all of those things going on though, it doesn't leave a lot of time for doing other things that I enjoy such as Hive. That's when the evenings and early mornings come into play!

The evenings are when I am out there doing my post writing for the most part, because that's when I can get some dedicated time to sit down and do some writing. It's not always guaranteed though, sometimes I don't feel like writing and I think that's fine because it plays into another thing that I've gotten pretty good at and into a nice habit: scheduling my posts!

I know that some can churn out content twice or more per day but I'm more of the mindset that I want to limit what I put out there to only something that I find decent. Not to say that the people who post multiple times per day are putting anything out there that is shit or whatnot but for me, I prefer to stretch things out into a post a day at the same time roughly so that I can have some consistency. With posting and things in life, it's important to have some consistency!

With this consistency and affinity for doing some Hive things in the evening though, sometimes it leads me to stay up a lot later than I would like to. This turns into a vicious cycle of sleep deprivation sometimes lol. It doesn't usually bother me too much since I can manage to hold off being too tired for the most part on most days. After a few weeks though, I usually fall into a trap that makes me sleep a lot more than I typically do.

Listening to our bodies in that sense is important! If we don't listen to our bodies then we could have some pretty serious health consequences and nobody wants that, that's for sure! Every so often I have to listen to my body when it comes to sleep and post scheduling has helped me attain a bit of a consistency so that I can get a few posts scheduled out there and not feel like I'm going to mess up my streak. This has worked out in the past few weeks where I've had a couple times where I've gotten less sleep than my body wanted so I needed to play catch up for two or three nights.

Getting those posts scheduled and out there has been great! I can put out the content that I've been planning on doing, just like I'm writing this post this evening and getting it scheduled for the near future so that it goes out and I can keep writing another post after this. I guess maybe the reason I tend to find that I need to take breaks is because I drain my brain too quickly of content ideas without a break between but that's how I've been able to keep the posting going for nearly 2 years. Hopefully I don't jinx myself and screw it up hahaha but I've managed through a hardfork to keep it consistent so that's good!

Sleep is so important! I don't function well on little sleep and I find that being productive becomes more difficult. Post scheduling has come in handy for me too in this regard as I sometimes am able to write a few posts in quick succession and keep them in draft until I need one scheduled. It's a great way to keep on top of things.

Yeah sleeping is definitely important and I've managed to adjust my body and habits to maximize my abilities going on 7.5-8 hours of sleep. That way I can do the Hive stuff in the evening and then sleep enough so that I don't have a bad day at work.

Post scheduling is huge for me, it's helped me so much to stay on track! The past 2-3 days I've not felt in the mood to write but that worked out because I already had a few posts scheduled so I didn't have to worry which was good.

I also like having it scheduled for the same time every day, 0030 blockchain time. This makes it easy to have consistency for those who read the musings that I throw out there, and I appreciate you taking the time to read them lol

I do like writing a few posts and then keeping some others in draft. I'm in a perpetual state of draft lately lol got over a dozen drafts waiting! Just need the time to write!

Gosh I wish I had that many posts in draft, I have a few but I tend to use them relatively quickly.

Always a pleasure to read your posts, especially the crabbing and adventure ones, you guys seem to have good fun.
