Today I wanted to share the awesome sight we saw the other day: a family of poults!

While the little man and I were out on one of our fishing adventures recently, one of the things that we luckily ended up stumbling upon is a whole family of wild turkeys! It was incredible!

Turkeys are one of the little mans favorite animals to see because we don't see them as often as he would like. When we do though, we have never seen the babies before! That was amazing and I'm glad that we got the chance to see them both together and take a few pictures of them!

When we go on our fishing adventures, we are typically out and about in the woods of New Hampshire looking for places to drop a line in and catch a fish or two. With this adventure, we certainly caught more than we bargained for! When I was driving, I saw the momma turkey pop out first and clear the road for the family. It's not too uncommon to see the turkeys walking around, they are pretty abundant here which is good. When the momma was about halfway across the road, all of a sudden a baby popped out! Then another!

The little tikes kept on coming! It was incredible lol

Finally the dad coaxed the last one to keep up with the pack. All told, it looks like there were 11 of the things! I learned last year or the year before that Poult is the name for a baby turkey. There is also chick but I think poult sounds a lot cooler, even if autocorrect doesn't recognize it as a legitimate word. Screw that! lol

One of the things I really liked was that there were no other cars around so that we could stop and let the turkeys cross the road safely. Sometimes people are pretty rude and would take them out on purpose. I haven't seen this myself but I have seen people get aggressive and stop right in front of the turkey and beep at them. There was one dude behind me that did the same thing, stopped and pulled over after I drove away to see the turkeys en route through the forest!

I'm definitely glad that I got to experience such a cool thing like this!
