Programmed HBD Marks

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to talk about putting the technical abilities to use: programmatic HBD buys!

Programmed HBD Marks

It seems to have calmed down quite a bit.. but we had recently crested the All Time High for Bitcoin the other day! That was an exciting time for sure, even though I didn't sell anything, I still was celebrating it in the way that I could: anticipating a run on Hive and HBD!

Some of the things that we are able to do with the computer programs these days are really amazing. It's hard to think of life without some of it but there are also quite a few benefits that we really never take advantage of, and it shows. Setting buy and sell limits for things like Hive and HBD is definitely one of those!

I have had issues in the past where I was trying to play the markets by selling some assets at what I thought was a high mark, to expect it to come down to a much lower point and I could squeak out a little bit of profit. Taraz calls it catching the falling knife which is pretty accurate. You can throw it up and hope that when you are getting it on the way down, you don't slice your shit open and you can catch it without getting hurt. I would always get hurt LOL.

That was before though, and a lot of places did not implement advanced trading techniques like buy and sell limit orders. These are orders where you can set a price to buy or sell an asset and it will automatically do it for you. Those things used to be reserved for the day traders and people with good technical skills and knowledge. I don't have those skills to configure it on my own but I do have a knack for figuring out how to do something. I finally figured out how to take advantage of these buy and sell limit orders!

I don't think my sell limit order for Hive is going to go through at this point - Hive never made it to my limit of .50$ but it was still good to have it there. I know that there is a long way to go before we hit these high values again and that's okay. What I would like to do is keep my limit orders on the books if I can so that if Hive randomly jumps up to some crazy number as it does occasionally, my order will already be there waiting to fill it for someone who wants to get some Hive!

I'm not talking huge numbers here, thousands of Hive like some people have. 100 Hive is what I'm working with but I think that's a good amount in all honesty. My plans for the HBD that I would have made on it are nothing extravagant; it would go right into HBD savings so that I can let it earn some interest even for a couple weeks and then get taken back out when things calm down, so I can exchange it back for Hive and make a little sliver of profit on top of it all.

Even at those "profits" those are just getting reinvested in Hive anyways via additional Hive Power at the end of the day. I would like to get to a point where I have 5,000 Hive as liquid for me to have available assets to play around with but not necessarily have powered up. If I can manage to get to 5,000 liquid Hive, I would be happy to just power up everything else after that! Growing my Hive stack for the future is absolutely one of the things that I am trying to do, and do it in various ways that offer some different ways to benefit besides just commenting, posting and curation.

What about you, have you tried your hand at setting buy and sell limit orders for things like Hive or HBD? Let me know in the comments if it's worked out or if you'd like to try!

It is still possible for Hive to make it up to your sell limit
Let’s wait for more time and we know the halving is coming soon

Indeed it's got plenty of time to get there! I think it’s important to keep the accumulation mindset right now - so we don’t make early mistakes!

I do try buy and sell order limits occasionally, but I think I do set the order limit quite low relatively to the current price. At first, I didn't understand terms like 'fill or kill' and '720 Hours'. But now the UI looks cool and ehe whole process seems easy to understand and implement.

Yeah the new UI makes it a fair bit easier to do this stuff! I don't know all the ins and outs of it but I'm getting there!

We will definitely be hitting 0.5 soon. Strongly believe that. It is just soon
