Today I’m sharing a post that’s a bit older but fun!
Quick Vacation
One of the things that’s fun sometimes is to just getting up and going on a quick vacation. It’s fun to travel to all kinds of places but at the same time there’s so much to see right in your own backyard!
We’ve been to York Maine quite regularly this summer and it’s been all day trips driving up there. It’s not too far but driving a lot is sometimes tough. We decided to stay at one of the hotels there instead! It was very nice to get up and open the door to see the beach like that!
There’s also some fun bits of history around there. The historical societies are good about posting some good info around the area for various important things for people to be aware of.
I don’t know where the boom island lighthouse is, we only got to see the Nubble lighthouse but one of my favorite things is to go check out lighthouses! They are a great piece of history and look awesome!
Long Sands beach is our go-to beach when it comes to being in Maine! It’s beautiful and is very long, given the name. The crazy part about Long Sands from what I read is that it was bought in the early 1900’s I think for like 500$! The money is obviously a lot back then but still, an entire beach bought for 500$ is wild. The family still technically owns the beach I think but they don’t mind that the public uses it which is great. Private beaches are very common and kind of annoying.
It was also nice to learn a little bit about tourism over the years in the area. It seems that hotels used to be a big thing but have since largely burned down or been destroyed and replaced by other hotels or houses.
It ended up being a fun trip to take, albeit short but sometimes all you need is one or two days!

Nice, I haven't been to too many spots up in Maine. Sarah has as a kid but definitely somewhere I want to go visit more. Great photos.
Thanks man, if you guys ever take the trip to Maine let me know we will meet you there! We are actually going tomorrow for a few days, looking forward to it! The weather might be crap but it's okay, going to a new spot we've never been so it'll be fun.
I've spent a lot of time in Maine over the years but not much in the beaches. Now we visit the beaches all the time but nowhere else lol. Such a beautiful state though!
