Ravens Galore
Hi fellow Avian aficionados,
I've noticed that two times a year we see massive amounts of ravens.
Ravens Galore
One of the interesting things when you slow down a little bit is to look and notice things that many otherwise overlook. One of these things for me is that we seem to have a migration of hundreds, if not thousands, of ravens!
I don't know much about ravens, or crows (whichever bird this is lol) but one thing I have definitely noticed over the past 2 years is that I see them in very vast quantities at two times during the year: Early spring and middle autumn.
This time was no different! Our son and I were out for a nice walk recently and sure enough, in the evening all I could hear was the squawking of the ravens overhead. I turned and looked up and there was a massive flock going overhead! I think there might have been over a hundred birds in this flock.
I think it's interesting to see them as they cross the sky and make their calls in the evenings. I don't see them much during the day but consistently see them and hear them in the evening. One time they completely filled an areas trees! It was intense to see. I do know we have a trash facility a mile or two away so I don't know if they are there scavenging food or something.

Those are some very cool photos with the clouds in the background like that. I have some familiarity with ravens and crows both, but I know nothing about migration of them. Have they always done this for years where you are?
Damn, I failed this week! Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, that's pretty shitty of me!
The clouds were definitely prime since it was at the golden hour where photography tends to get interesting! I don't know too much about the birds but since I moved in here with my wife years ago the birds have been doing this so it certainly seems to be migratory related, perhaps! There are lots of them that's for sure lol.
Life happens, it is what it is. Pretty cool you get to experience this migration.
