Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to appreciate the beautiful spring walk along the river!

Wednesday Budding River Walk

The spring season is most certainly upon us where we are! We aren't having the warmest weather but that's okay. I think the weather for April is actually what I think it really should be: slightly warm but with a fair bit of rain and cloudiness, and regular nights that still dip into the 30's.

With the slow warming up of the weather here, one of the things that we've been doing is getting out there and exploring some of the different parts of the river system that we stumbled upon last year! It's a beautiful little system and one thing I love about it the most is that it's incredibly walkable! A lot of rivers are not very friendly to having a nice stroll along them. This one isn't the case, you have ample opportunity to follow the course of it!

Along the river there are countless things going on but importantly, there are these beautiful little flowers sprouting up all over the place! It's strange because you get a patch of them at what seems like random spots along the way. This one here was in a little bit of a clearing from some recently downed trees. There is another clearing nearby and it's got not a single one of them lol I can't figure out the reason they are here but not there. Interesting stuff!

What's nice is the trails come right up to the waters edge so you could, if you'd be so inclined, jump into the water for a little dip. I don't know if I'm brave enough to do that, as I don't know how deep it is and I don't know a lot about the water and other things. Some people just jump right on in I'm sure lol but that's not really my style..

It is nice to be able to be right there though while you're walking, listening to the stream of water roll on by. One thing that's interesting about the river here is that it's pretty flat and doesn't have a whole lot of rocky features to it. A lot of the rivers around have quite a few rocky situations going on in them but here I've barely seen a boulder and I wonder what that means for the fish and other aquatic life that calls it home.

The real show was the buds that are on the trees! I'm not exactly sure what type of trees these are, if they are maple trees or what but the buds were wonderful looking and they were all over the place and stretching out over the river hoping to attract some pollinators!

What was funny is we came back another time and tried to go fishing. We didn't have any luck doing it but I accidentally hit the end of the branch probably in this same spot here and it exploded with pollen! I was surprised to see the amount of pollen these things have. Normally for me, I would think that pollen would be on a flower that opens up wide. These little tentacles though are apparently quite loaded with pollen and waiting for the chance to provide it to a bee, bird or various other pollinator species that are living in the area.

The little man has been enjoying the walks along the river for sure. For a while we didn't have the daylight to be able to go for a decent little walk here, he would have to go into his appointment and I'd be waiting around trying to do something while he's doing his thing. Now we get to go for a nice little walk, burn off some energy and get to see the whole of nature coming back to life after the winter slumber!

Sure looks a beautiful area for a walk and great to see the new spring growth

Warming up here as well a few days in the 70s and staying above freezing point overnight spring is surely upon us, Looking forward to getting more energy and getting out to enjoy it

Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk, Sorry last week was a bit rough for me and I not only did not get out for any walks, but also was not able to visit all the walks from last week, but feeling better this week and visiting posts again which is always fun for me to visit the walks from all around the world, getting a feel for communities where people live and what they see on their daily walks
