Freebies are Bad for Economy as well as for Individuals

Recently Indians Politicians who wants to win the elections by hook or crook have started going with Freebie culture. In the freebie culture, these politicians will give the poll promises that if their government comes to the power they will gives some things for free. Like in recent Karnataka elections, the government announced 200 units of electricity free, Rs 2k for Women head, and some other freebies.

The problem is, these freebies will have an additional burden of Rs 50K Crore to the government that means government will have less money for doing development and improving the infrastructure and in return will have the burden on the individuals itself. Similarly after the government announced 200 units free electricity, they have increased the tariff bu Rs 2.89 per unit. Thus indirectly increasing the money from the rich and giving for free to the poor. The problem is not about giving something for free, but that is helping then to remain poor because they are getting everything for free itself.

Now the freebies will have an effect on the state as well as country's economy because they have to get money from somewhere to fund the freebies. Similarly when their is no development and infrastructure improvement it will be economical pressure for the individuals too. Because then an individual have to shell out more money from his pocket to improve the life. Also there will be increased indirecf tax from other sources which indirectly affect the individual financially.

So in my opinion, freebie culture us bad for the country as a whole. For me even though I am getting some things for free, I have to pay double extra because government will increase the tax for other things. Like they have started increasing the property tax by 30% and increasing the liquor tax and some other tax too.

Freebies can tune out to be quite helpful for the economic growth of India, but only if it’s properly planned and channelized. If it’s not properly planned, it can result in a huge barrier to economic growth. If a government is distributing freebies among its citizens, then they are spending a huge sum of money from the government treasury.

Well i guess all politicians are the same, promises that which will not last, its like giving an eye for an eye. That is were it works, cause people who are desperate will accept this freebie in return for their vote

its not only in India, they do it all around the world. the real price you pay: you will be 100% dependant on the system, gov. for life. They want to enslave everybody (probably you've seen how they robbed the mid-class in the west in the last few years - dont feel sorry for them, most of them fought for it, so they just got what they built, wanted). naive thinking that cents will get anybody out from poverty, also naive to think, that's really their interest, everybody have a nice standard of living.

Independency, and the last little pieces of the illusion of freedom. That's the cost of the cents what they throw you, meantime steal millions, billions, and even things what you cant measure by money...
