Warming up and Getting mic’d up with Clinton Baptist🎙️

The host, Clinton Baptist was not only my senior in college but he’s also the man who built QuizX. He has been passionate about getting young budding kids to be a part of his app to consistently improve their knowledge on any topic they are interested in. The whole idea behind this is for the young talent to THINK.

Finally, this will get them to find the missing link that they can work on and be a part of the Solution.

Lights Camera Action 🎬

All set to shoot 📸

The recording took 4 hours to completely bring out the essence of the Indian coffees. The camera was able to capture the moment in HD while the lighting was set up by Joyal Lobo.

I have done many events before this, but this was my very first podcast and being recorded was something else. Nerve wracking and keeping it real, was constantly hard to show on camera. But with Clinton trying to ask so many questions and certain queries of thoughts that he had at the moment, made it much more realistic than I expected it would be.

Okay, let’s dive into it.

Cheese 😁 📸

Super excited to share with you guys the coffee podcast episode titled, Podcasta Robusta, where the host Clinton Baptist will explore the world of coffee, with a focus on India. In this episode, I am the special guest. For those who don’t know me! My name is Lynn Mascarenhas, a qualified wildlife biologist turned coffee farmer.

As a fourth-generation coffee farmer, I love running my sustainable and innovative coffee farm in Karnataka. In the podcast I will shares my insights and experiences on various aspects of Indian coffee such as the diversity, varieties, farming methods, processing techniques, fermentation process, challenges and opportunities, and impact of climate change.

I work with specialty, coffee of a particular variety called peridenia. Which is one of the old varieties in robusta species. We have a 100% robusta farm. What do you me not know is that Indian farms are biodiverse and bird friendly. There is no need of certification for this guarantee. Looking at the canopy says a lot about our estates. Birds chirping, tigers roaring, cows mooing and peacocks always dancing is the normal everyday occurrence for us.

📍 Studio at Vamanjoor

Since I already have a Nikon Z6 camera, and I’ve shot myself before. But I never had to mic up. The studio looks so professional and it was a first time so you could imagine how I felt.

It took us almost an hour to keep all the audio stuff ready. Which gave me ample time to just breathe in the room and be myself. And what did benefit me what that my cousin who studies in the same college in which the studio was in, it gave me the company I very much needed.

Basking on the photons 🪩

We proudly share our truth with anyone willing to listen 🎙️

A planter Tends to have a unique relationship with roasters, customers, visitors, cafe owners. Which makes it all the more complicated for people, even though in the same coffee field to understand the aches and pains one must take. Rarely do you find planters who are in all these fields.

📍 St. Joseph’s Engineering College, Vamanjoor

The lights were shining, so bright and all, I could do was reflect on the memories of how my day had started. The Nerves, the thoughts and feelings got much stronger. I immediately knew we had just a few minutes left before we would start shooting this podcast.

Can’t get brighter than this🤌🏼✨

I’m so glad to have a fellow friend like Clinton who realised the importance of the hidden gaps at the farm that can be bridged with students. Research is not the only option for them. Building machines and understanding microbes, working on by products could be new in the field. The future indeed is as bright as the light shining at the moment.

Green screen and everything 🤣

Looking at a green screen, just laying there in the back, gave is ideas of super imposing the farms greenery on to the bottom of the podcast. But since it was so last-minute, we laughed it off.

Also, we talked about…

We ended up bringing the Indian coffee essence into the podcast. Clinton insisted on bringing the Indian farmers perspective and experience we go through when we go abroad with our coffees and the kind of response we get.

Since I had been to Melbourne, six months ago. I got to experience and showcase exactly what a farmer has to deal with.

Traveled by the bus after ages and then grabbed our lunch at 6 pm, ugh 😩

Although the food from Urban house, Mangalore was sumptuous and made us relax after a long day of recording.

Suuushieeee 🍣

Had an interesting round of sushi for starters, The Teriyaki chicken, California roll was a different experience from the fruitier spicy mango crab stick sushi roll. The meat to rice ratio compliments the taste of the dish.

Happy happy 🥢

My cousin absolutely loves this place since they have such great quality sushi and the tempting drinks 🤌🏼✨ we couldn’t leave without trying our all time favourite Pina Colada. Boy was it so iced up that we ended up with a little sore throat the next day 🤣 but it was worth it.
