Effort Aversion: The Invisible Barrier to Success

We all sometimes experience laziness and never want to do any work, and I think it's a kind of natural urge inherent in human nature. The fact is that none of us love a kind of life where we are overwhelmed with work every day; our human nature prefers a life where tasks are taken care of by a system in place or by others while we rest and time is allocated to other enjoyable pursuits.

One of my goals is to own multiple businesses and not work for anyone. I believe lots of people want this kind of life as well. This is quite good, but even owning businesses doesn't guarantee an exemption from work and doesn't give you all the time you might need for other pursuits; one way or another, you must be involved to ensure the smooth running of the businesses.

For many people if they could completely avoid doing any work they would and even if those work would be good for them or bring them benefits, they would still avoid-That is effort aversion. They might avoid those work because they seem too hard or tiring. But enjoying life or living a fulfilled life involves doing hard work. While laziness can be a natural urge, too much of it can lead to lack of fulfillment.

Most of us show up at work not just because we love the work so much, but because we have to pay bills, meet our financial goals, and keep life going. Even though we invent technology to be able to do work easier and faster, but also it's our desire to have a system in place do almost everything on our behalf so we would be free from doing any work.

The daily grind can be very exhausting, which is why we innovative ways of doing things easier and innovation has always sounded a good idea. If we could find a way to do things easily without involving ourselves or exhausting much time and effort, life would always be enjoyable. But this is something that I realised, our human nature could sometimes avoid responsibility, giving excuses to avoid work.

That drive sometimes makes us procrastinate. Procrastination can stem from various factors of which laziness is one. Sometimes when laziness sets in while doing any kind of work, and I try to procrastinate, I begin to realize is that human nature that wants to avoid work at all costs. This side of us can always be overridden with disciplined life.

Without a disciplined life, anything in our human nature could simply shift us away from what we could possibly achieve or where we could reach. Our human nature loves to sleep, love being idle, and just wants things always the easiest way. It's good when we could find ways to doing things easier but not just ways that never make us feel responsible.

Very well said! I think this inherent laziness that we have tends to make life hard for us because achieving anything worthwhile will require consistent hard work. Perhaps, the blessing in disguise is we're also becoming better along the way, evolving and growing.
