OMG brother. OMG. Did you feel me reaching out to you saying. "I misssssss you?"

I think you must have felt me because I had been meaning to write on one of your recent posts and say exactly that... but no need, apparently. You could hear me calling out to you from way over here 😂😍😄

Gosh, I love it when things like this happen. So hi! I missed you 😂 !LOL

How have you been, mister? What's news? How's university going?

Yes, things are good here. Interesting some days, challenging others. Almost always trending upwards and rarely bad enough for me to feel (too) sorry for myself. (Being on Hive also helps with that by reminding me how freakin' blessed I am).

Daily exercise routine hey? It's much easier if you have someone to tag along with who is ultra driven. My partner is very, very driven to do exercise and had been doing it every day, without any prompting from anyone else, long before we met. I just get to gratefully go along for the ride. I wonder if there's anyone else who lives closeby to you guys that you could jump in with? Or an exercise group or run group? Are there such things near you?

Ed, big fan. Big. He's ridiculously awesome as a musician and I love that he loves creating music so much. I think it's good for the soul to engage with others who are truly lit up by what they do.

I've actually been hearing the call for quite a while now, but I've been waiting for the "right time" to make my comeback. 😅 I had quite an hectic day yesterday, and I somehow found myself picking my phone to check Hive for the first time in a long time, and there's really no point in me coming on here if I don't stop by to say Hi to you.

Gosh, I love it when things like this happen. So hi! I missed you

I've also missed you as well. 😁
I'll try not to stay away for too long from now on.

I've been great!
Spent the past couple of months coping through a heartbreak, a little bit of self development, registering for one too many programs, and just trying my best to survive and figure things out. 😅

And University's been hectic. I'm a student union leader and I've had to deal with quite a number of stuffs the past few weeks. But all in all, the experience has been great!

It's nice to hear that. I'm glad you've found a way of making Hive a coping mechanism.

Yea, I figured it would be easier if I had someone to motivate me, and I was hoping he'd be the one, but it turns out we're both the same when it comes to being consistent with exercise. 🥴😅😂

Most of my close friends, unfortunately, aren't into those kinds of things. They're mostly interested in academics and anything that's related to it.

I don't know of any such group around here. I'm mostly clueless about most of the activities on campus, but I'll try to check and see if I can find one. I know there's a gym close by, but I don't think I can fit in gym sessions into my schedule for now.

You're lucky you have someone that motivates you to do more. For now, I guess I'll just have to be my own source of inspiration. 😅

Yea, I love both his works and personality. He's part of the very few artistes I actually enjoy listening too.
Passenger is another notable mention. The guy is quite good as well.

Haha!

Awwwh, shucks 🤩😄

Promise? 😂 !LOL

Awesome to hear :)

Spent the past couple of months coping through a heartbreak

Oh, bummer. That sucks. I'm glad to hear you spent time with someone you care about but it totally sucks when you heart gets broken. Sorry to hear that brother. I know how hard that can be; I've had my heart broken many times... in my past... before my darling Brad 😉

a little bit of self-development

Doesn't surprise me 😉

registering for one too many programs

Haha. Of course 😉

and just trying my best to survive and figure things out.

Ah, I think that's life, right?

And University's been hectic. I'm a student union leader and I've had to deal with quite a number of stuffs the past few weeks. But all in all, the experience has been great!

Yay! Student union leader. Of course you are!! 😂 I can so imagine you being a leader. I think you were designed to lead people, brother. For sure.

I hear you. Brad suggested the following ideas when I mentioned your challenge to him:

Do your exercise the moment you wake up.
Drink water, pee, get dressed and go do your exercise.
It doesn't matter if it's a run around the block or push-ups in your room,
just move your body and get your heart rate up before you do anything else (major).
You'll feel better for the rest of the day because you know you've done it.
If you can't make it fun and interesting to do just think of it like medicine you have to take (because it is!) and just get it done.

I think this is really useful advice. (He's done a lot of exercise over the years. He's fit it in around full time work and raising a child, so he knows rather a lot about exercise and fitting things in).

I'd also add that it's useful to be really clear why doing exercise is important to you. When I was training for a 100km ultra-marathon several years ago I was only able to do the amount of training required (much of which was totally on my own; everyone else thought I was crazy) by making sure I keep the idea of why I was doing this event and the training.

Our why is what provides the motivation when it's hard. It can be incredibly powerful but it has to be very personal. Like, "I want to be fit and healthy so I can...

  • be a role model for my overweight mother or friend
  • stay healthy enough to care for my aging parents
  • have enough energy to do all the things I want to do at university"

You get the idea. Find your 'why' (i.e. what's truly important to you), make it as personal as possible and decide if you want to tell people, or not.

Ok. Enough advice. Off to spend some more time with my Mum (as we are on holidays and seeing her for the first time in over 6 months!) 🤸‍♀️🤸‍♂️🤸

Promise?

I don't know if I'll be able to keep this promise if I make it, so I won't. 😅 But I'll definitely stay in touch, and that one's sure.

Yea, it was a really lovely experience while it lasted.
I love how you and Brad complement each other. That's definitely one thing to look forward to in a partner. Happy for you guys.😊

Ah, I think that's life, right?

Yea, but sometimes, I just wish we had a pause button. 😅

Yay! Student union leader. Of course you are!! 😂 I can so imagine you being a leader. I think you were designed to lead people, brother. For sure.

Thank you very much. 😊 I've been told that a couple of times, but it's funny how I've never actually seen myself as one. Guess I'm missing something. 😅

Thank you very much for this. I'll definitely try this. I'll keep you updated on my progress. Help extend my thanks to Brad for the suggestions.

I'd also add that it's useful to be really clear why doing exercise is important to you. 100km?! That's incredible.
I agree with you. And I think it can be applied to other things I'm currently into. The main reason I want to start exercising is to keep fit, and it's been years since I last played any physical sport so I'm hoping to use it as an alternative.

Ok. Enough advice. Off to spend some more time with my Mum (as we are on holidays and seeing her for the first time in over 6 months!)

I really do wish to be in your shoes right now because it's starting to look like schoolwork might prevent me from going home for the holidays this time around. 😅
Anyways, enjoy your holiday! 😁 And help send my regards to your Mum.

🙏😊😁😍⭐

All read, received and appreciated.

And I also realised something: Brad and I complement each other well, yes. But we also compliment each other regularly and that helps strengthen the relationship. Get me? I think this is really overlooked in relationships but it's vitally important for any relationship (romantic or otherwise) to last for any real length of time (and be healthy, that is): two people have to genuinely appreciate each other and tell each other that they do.

Look forward to reading more updates from you regarding exercise and university and anything else you want to tell me, way over here.

Coming to you from the next stage of our holiday, now in Auckland, New Zealand.
