Hot, humid, sweaty parkrun

avatar

Saturday, also known as parkrunday, saw us visiting our local parkrun. It was hot, humid, sweaty and rainy; typical South East Queensland.

We've got a small cyclone sitting off the coast a couple of hundred kilometres north of us and it keeps pushing rain down this way. While I have no doubt several of the parkruns up near where we were last week would have been cancelled, we just got a bit wet.

If we weren't wet from the rain, we were wet from the sweat! Did I mention it was humid?

There's a word for it; we call it "stu-midity" when it's "stupidly humid". You like that? Cool word, not a cool experience though :P

After saying my hellos and chatting with the Run Director, I did my volunteer role of delivering the First Timer's Brief (for the two new people and about 20 or 30 tourists).

Then it was time to run. I opted to run alone and run my own "race" (parkrun, not parkrace Caroline, get with the program!). I finished strong in 26:31 and 27th place. And was super, super impressed by the two women who came in 3rd and 4th with times under 20 minutes.

I just finished a 5.0km running that lasted about 0hh:26mm:31ss !
