Hello Friends,

The much anticipated and much talked about World news right now, I think, will be about safe landing of Vikram lander which carried Pragyan rower as part of Chandrayaan 3 mission, a mission to explore the Moon by India!!.

Yes, India became the First country to successfully land on South Pole on Moon's surface with the landing of Vikram rower by 6.04 PM IST (8.34 AM EST time) on 23rd August 2023.

With this successful soft landing of Vikram lander, India achieved some of the rare records which are not achieved by most of the countries with details as below:

  • India is the First country to make a safe landing on South Pole region on Moon's surface
  • India is Second country after China to have an operating rower on Moon (wow!!!, cool, isn't it?)
  • India also joins the exclusive list of countries to have a safe landing on Moon, becoming ONLY the FOURTH country to do so with USA, USSR and China being the ONLY countries to do so, far.
  • Although it's not ideal to compare the cost of Chandrayaan 3 with other countries Moon landing costs, just for the records, the Chandrayaan 3 costed INR 615 Crores (which is about $75 Million) as compared to Russia's Luna-25 Mission which costed $200 Million

Chandrayaan 3 has made India proud and shows Indian Government's willingness to invest money in exploring other planets and Indian scientists' knowledge and expertise in building cost effective space exploration projects.

With this achievement, India will now be commended by other countries and there might be offers by other countries to ISRO(Indian Space Research Organization) to create similar projects for their own country.

Chandrayaan 3's main mission is to explore South Pole for any frozen water evidences and analyze the chemicals and also explore new technologies to future planetary missions.

No doubt, the success of Chandrayaan 3 made other countries to look up to India and it's future space missions. India is now among the selected few countries to have it's mark on Moon and that is a proud moment for all of us Indians!!!!

Thanks and Have a good day :)
