Splinterlands - The Airdrops And The Returns On Investment

Hello Splinterlands Lovers,

image.png

When I started playing Splinterlands back in 2018, I never thought that, one day, I will be spending Thousands of Dollars on Splinterlands packs. Spending $10 on spellbook was something I use to think since I had just started using the Hive Blockchain (Steemit at that time) and the earnings use to be in pennies.

But, that has changed over the course of period as the Splinterlands has grown big and so are we battlers thanks to earnings on Hive and Splinterlands.

The recent and ongoing sale of Splinterlands packs i.e. Chaos Legion edition has been the most successful of all and I too invested more than the amount I spent combined for all the previous editions.

When we try to get the packs from presales, the main agenda behind that will be to be eligible for the airdrops Splinterlands normally provides with each million packs sold and looking into the airdrops of Untamed edition, we all can think of how good the ROI will be with regards to the returns we get from airdropped cards.

I am just giving an example of Yodin Zaku which is selling around $750 right now on Splinterlands market.

So, I thought of getting the details of the airdropped cards so far and see how much returns I have got based on the amount of Dollars I spent including the cost of vouchers, potions and obviously the cost of packs.

Investment on Packs, Vouchers and Potions:

OK, the above screenshot provides the details of investment I made solely for Chaos Legion edition with breakup of details as I am explaining here:

Splinterlands announced for the last airdrops that, to be eligible for the airdrop, there should be a purchase of minimum of 350 packs to get 1 each of the airdrop they will announce.

Since all the airdropped cards were Legendary ones, and to get atleast to level 2, we need a minimum of 3 cards, keeping that in mind, I wanted to accumulate 1050 (350 X 3) to be eligible to get atleast 3 guaranteed cards for each airdrop.

In order to do that, I was suppose to purchase 900+ packs and 10% of that as bonus for purchasing 100+ packs gave me 90 additional packs. So, all in all, I had to purchase 960 packs to get 1050 in total including bonus packs.

Now, it's not that easy to purchase that many packs since each of those required vouchers as well and had to invest $540 for vouchers for purchasing 300 additional vouchers required.

And finally, I had to add the cost of potions (although some of those were part of daily quest rewards) and that comes around $473.

And, that means, I spent approximately $4853 for those 960 packs which gave 90 additional packs to have 1050 packs in total to be eligible for 3 each of the airdropped cards!!!

The Airdrops:

Airdrop 1 - Doctor Blight:

I was fortunate to get 5 cards airdropped to me and each of those are costing around $100, which means, I have got about $500 thru the First airdrop of Doctor Blight and I think that still remains the highest amount among all the airdropped cards, let me see as I calculate for other cards.

Airdrop 2: Baakjira:

The Legendary Water splinter was the Second of the 6 cards dropped so far and my 600+ packs purchased during that airdrop were suppose to get me a minimum of 3 cards, but, I was fortunate to get 6 cards and that was sufficient to level it to level 3 to get the healing ability to it.

The cost of those 6 cards is about $96 right now as the screenshot value shows above.

Airdrop 3 - Uriel The Purifier:

image.png

Uriel The Purifier was dropped along with Baakjira since 2 million packs were sold as part of the Second pre-sale and I got 3 cards from the airdrop, all regular ones and those costs about $35

The cost seems to be getting down as many have lined their cards for sale on the market because people might have got more than what they need to level it to max level.

Airdrop 4 - Lira The Dark:

This is on par with Uriiel The Purifier or the next one to be discussed albeit it doesn't have healing ability.

This will be a great addition to the already awesome ranged attack monsters we have in Death splinter with a difference that, this will be a opportunity monster with good speed.

I got exactly 3 cards from the airdrop and the return as it shows above is about $20 for 3 cards.

Airdrop 5 - Iza The Fanged:

image.png

The Fifth card airdropped was from Earth splinter with Iza The Fanged being another ranged attack monster and this has better abilities with being a sneak monster and has the ability to scavenge.

I got 3 cards of this airdrop as well and it gives a return of $20 like Lira The Dark.

Final Airdrop - Grum Flameblade:

image.png

Grum Flameblade was added to earlier announced 2 airdrops based on the overwhelming response by battlers to purchase more than 3 million packs in the General sale on day 1 itself and this additional card was dropped along with Iza The Dark and Lira The Fanged.

I got 6 cards airdropped to me and it is costing about $17 per card and in total, it gives me $102 from those airdropped cards.

Overall Returns from Airdrops so far:

image.png

About $767 worth cards I have got so far from the First 3 airdrops which is about 16% of the total value spent i.e. $4853.

With few legendary summoners to be dropped in the next airdrops, we can expect even better returns from the airdrop and that all will add to these amounts I have mentioned and the overall account value for all the cards I got so far is almost equal to the amount I have invested and once the packs gets sold out, the prices will start increasing as we have seen in the case of Untamed edition cards.

Splinterlands is always fun to play, good to earn passive income and also the overall returns will be better ones in the longer run based on what we have seen so far.

Oh, the details are so much fun to retrieve and I am sure you guys have better stats than me from these airdrops, why don't you share those?

Thanks as always for the read and also providing your support.

Happy to be battling and bringing these blogs.

Thanks and Have a great Friday :)

Still, there are few more airdrops left, you may even get more than 25% just on airdrops, and you need to count the SPS and vouchers you get for free with the cards.

Very true.
With legendary summoners lined up next, I think we may even receive better returns.
Yes, we might have to buy more packs, but those will be worth buying to get airdrops, who knows one of those might be something like Yodin Zaku?

Thanks for stopping by, have a good day :)

Thank you, I have invested my Hive earnings into Splinterlands and I am hopeful of good returns and dividends from token staking in the future.

Thanks for the tipu curation (somehow it didn't go thru though).

Have a good day :)
