A wee walk in Chacao and a sweet treat

avatar

Hello, awesome Hivers!

Happy #WednesdayWalk, everyone. The walk I am going to share with you today was a quick walk I took yesterday with my son around the neighborhood of Chacao in Caracas.

We were in the area running errands and decided to go to the central area of the neighborhood to buy some groceries.

We parked near the municipal market, but as it was already late in the afternoon, it was closed. However, the flower stalls outside the market were still open.

We walk south along Cecilio Acosta street in the south direction.

WW_Chacao2.jpg

And we came across this colorful mural.

WW_Chacao3.jpg

I couldn't recognize the artist's signature, so I have yet to investigate further.

WW_Chacao4.jpg

The shop where I wanted to do some shopping was closed, and I got the impression that it was permanently closed. So we decided to go to the square and walk back by the street parallel to the one we had walked down.

WW_Chacao5.jpg

We went to the square to take some photos.

WW_Chacao6.jpgPlaza Bolívar de Chacao

This is the Plaza Bolívar de Chacao. And those of you who have read some of my posts on the Wednesday Walk will wonder how many Plazas Bolivar are here, and the answer is there are lots of them.

WW_Chacao7.jpg

After our stop in the square, we continue along the street, this time in a northerly direction. This street is the Av. Mohedano.

WW_Chacao8.jpg

Aside the Plaza Bolívar de Chacao, there is a church.

WW_Chacao9.jpg

The church is the Iglesia San José de Chacao.

We continued down the street and stopped at a bicycle shop. It has been there for years, and my son wanted to ask if they have a spare part for his bike.

WW_Chacao11.jpg

We were soon in the vicinity of the municipal market, but before we went to get the cart, we decided to treat ourselves to a traditional bakery in the area.

We deserved the treat after having spent the day running errands. In this bakery, I have always liked their mille-feuille sweets. But when we entered, some pastries that we call lenguas de suegra just out of the oven caught our attention.

WW_Chacao12.jpg

We ate them with coffee and also a portion of salty ricotta and spinach small pastries. Of course, we joined them with a couple of cappuccinos.

WW_Chacao13.jpg

After we were pleased, we went to pick up the car to go back home.

This was my little walk, which I share with you so that you can get to know a bit more of Caracas.

This is my post for this week's #wednesdaywalk challenge hosted by @tattoodjay in collaboration with #makemesmile hosted by @elizacheng.

If you made it this far, thank you for reading.

Such a great walk @coquicoin 😁 all around for errands. And some truly yummy treats at the end. I wouldn’t say no to those. And a cappuccino ☕️ Yep… nom nom.
Great captures of the area and buildings.

What a nice walk! I'm interested in the street artist's work, is it free fantasy or a drawing based on a story?

Hello, the truth is that I don't know. The mural is new because not long ago I went by there and it wasn't there. But I couldn't recognize the artist's signature and I still haven't found out who he/she is. I'm also very curious to know who or what inspires him for the mural.
Thanks for stopping by :)

What a lovely and interesting walk that was Eli, I love the architecture and the awesome murals!
Those freshly baked pastries look sooo good, I would also not have been able to resist them, a cappuccino is just what I would have ordered as well.

I really like this area of the city. There are few modern buildings here. They are all low-rise buildings, and in this area, there are still a lot of old food shops and a few shoe shops. Many of them are still run by Spanish and Italians who came to Caracas in the 50s. For example, the bakery is owned by some Italians, and now their children run the shop. But the sweets are as good as ever.

From my humble point of view, this is a very beautiful square, in addition to the tranquility that exists there and of course you had to pamper yourself with some delicious sweets

I quite like this square. And there was a time when I loved going to Chacao to shop, but the municipal market became very expensive and it's no longer worth going to. But it's always nice to go there to walk around.

The things that glue us from our friends, sis. You can blame @tengolotodo, hehe. My son rolls his eyes when he hears me say one of the words or phrases I learned thanks to Ed 😂.
Coffee on your way, amiga. Cheers ☕️🤗

Freshly baked lenguas de suegra looks irresistible! Such a perfect way to end the day. That's one pretty mural there. Two love birds seem like :D Markets close that early? Here in our city it closes much later and we even have night markets.

They were yummy indeed ;)
Here the municipal markets and street markets close early in the afternoon, and we don't have night markets. I wish there were some.

Oh, I see. Maybe soon when things are better there will be night markets.

There never have been those kinds of markets here. And I've only seen night food markets of that kind, many years ago when I went to Egypt, and in Turkey.

Aha so that is where you had your pastries Super Eli.
And you had spinach ones? That was unusual! So colourful murals, and ashame your shop has closed down!

Jeje! yes, it was there ;). The puff pastry in that bakery is so good. I'm going to put on the list to take you there when you come to visit. Puff pastries with savoury fillings are very common here. I love that one with ricotta and spinach, they also make them with cheese, and ham. And in that bakery, they make those little ones filled with anchovies too. What's different about these is that they are small, about the size of a bite.

ah cheese and ham of course goes well in anything!
The ricotta and spinach one sounds awesome, so if bite size I guess you eat quite a few!
Yesss Super Eli it will be on our list:)

@coquicoin wow - wish I could stroll around in that area. Thanks for brining it to us through your eyes. Flowers are colorful but the colorful murals are just awesome and flowers pale in comparison. I especially liked the one depicting two girls.
