August was full of birthdays, yesterday we were celebrating the 61st birthday of my Tia Susana, the youngest on my mom's side. We have been planning for days what to do. To give them a different lunch at my house, one that they had not tasted for a long time and that almost everyone liked. We could have chosen any Arab food or grill, but we almost always do that, so we decided to prepare a Mondongo soup, a very tasty food that is prepared with beef belly, and we put additional bull leg 🐂. It has vegetables such as Auyama, yucca, ocumo, potato, carrots, plantains, corn on the cob, seasoned with oregano, garlic, salt, celeri, coriander, some people put other things, but it is very tasty.

Agosto estuvo cargado de cumpleaños!, el día de ayer estuvimos celebrandoblos 61 años de mi Tía Susana, la menor de todas por parte de mi mamá. Desde hace días estabamos planificando qué hacer?. Regalarles en mi casa un almuerzo diferente, que tuvieran mucho tiempo sin probar y que le guste casi a todos. Pudimos escoger cualquier comida árabe o parrilla, pero casi siempre hacemos eso, entonces decidimos preparar una sopa de Mondongo, una comida muy sabrosa que se prepara con panza de res ,y le pusimos adicional pata de toro 🐂. Lleva verduras como Auyama, yuca, ocumo, papa, tambien se le coloca zanahora, plátano, mazorca, se condimenta con orégano, ajo, sal, celeri, culantro, hay quienes le ponen otras cosas, pero queda muy rica.

The birthday girl is from Puerto la Cruz, she came a few days ago for my cousin's birthday, so to look for them we made 2 outings. In the first one she arrived with my cousin, and my son did not hesitate to give her her gift 🎁, I was in the yard at the time, but I took the opportunity to take a picture of her when she opened it. She wanted a shampoo as a gift 😄 so we bought it for her and also some bathing cholas since they broke recently🩴🩴 and a "Maria Luisa" cake to kill her antijode days ago!.

La cumpleañera es de puerto la Cruz, se vino hace unos días para el cumpleaños de mi prima, así que para buscarlas hicimos 2 salidas. En la primera llegó ella con mi primo, y mi hijo no dudó en darle su regalo 🎁, yo estaba en el patio en ese momento, pero aproveché de tomarle una fotico cuando lo abrió. Ella deseaba un champú de regalo 😄 así que se lo compramos y tambien unas cholas de baño ya que se le rompieron hace poco🩴🩴 y una torta "María Luisa" para que se matara su antijode hace días!.

Being together is always a good experience, we usually talk about everything a little bit, sometimes the phone distracts us but we are always sharing.

My dad was the one who prepared the mondongo, he loves cooking and being the cook when it comes to soups, this time my husband did not accompany him because he did not like it hahahahahaha. Those who supervised the work were my uncle and my cousin.

Estar juntos sienpre es una buena experiencia, generalmente conversamos de todo un poco, a veces el teléfono nos distrae pero siempre estamos compartiendo.

Mi papá era quien preparaba el mondongo, le encanta la cocina y ser el cocinero cuando de sopas se trata, esta vez mi esposo no le acompañó porque no le gustaba jajajajaja. Quiense supervisaban la obra eran mi tío y mi primo.

Primero se sancochó la panza para ablandarla y luego se preparó la sopa.

Para que estuviese lista debía hervir bastante, mientras ranto algunos jugaron dominó y así hacer tiempo !.

After it boiled! The soup was ready! Everything was soft and smelled very tasty. The Mondongo soup has a particular aroma, those who love it know that it will be full of flavor, although it is a bit greasy, it is not something that is always consumed.

Después de que hirvió!! Ya estaba lista la sopa! Todo estaba blandito y olía muy sabroso!. La sopa de Mondongo tiene un aroma particular, quienes la aman saben que estará llena de sabor, aunque es algo grasosa, igualmente no es algo que se consume siempre.

We all sat down to eat, everyone gave their opinion of the soup, the good thing is that everyone said positive things, the softness of the vegetables and the belly is important, the touch of salt was perfect 👌 so everyone was happy. I ate 2 bowls of soup, but there were those who repeated up to 3 times, especially my cousin who was fascinated being this his first time trying mondongo soup.

Nos sentamos todos a comer, cada quien dio su opinión de la sopa, lo bueno es que todos decían cosas positivas, lo blando de las verduras y de la panza es importante, el toque de sal era perfecto 👌 así que todos quedaron felices. Yo me comí 2 platos de sopa, pero hubo quienes repitieron hasta 3 veces!, sobretodo mi primo que quedó fascinado siendo esta su primera vez probando sopa de mondongo.

We were very full, so 15 minutes after lunch, we had a coffee while planning another similar meeting without the need for a birthday!

Quedamos muy llenos, así que a los 15 minutos de comer, tomamos un café mientras planeabamos itra reunión parecida sin necesidad de ser un cumpleaños!.

It was time to sing birthday, it was 7 pm and it was already going to start raining, we also had to take my aunts home in 2 outings. So they brought out the cake which was very particular! It was perfect for her birthday because it had a phrase that represented her perfectly hahahaha.

Llegó el momento de cantar cumpleaños, eran las 7 pm y ya iba a comenzar a llover, también teníamos que llevar a mis tías a su casa en 2 salidas. Así que sacaron la torta que era muy particular! Era perfecta para su cumpleaños porque tenía una frase que la representaba a la perfección jajajaja.

She was very happy, we had 2 years without celebrating all together and I was happy to see her relaxed and happy face.

Ella estaba muy feliz, teníamos 2 años sin celebrar todos juntos y me dio felicidad verle su cara relajada y contenta.

My son and my cousin ran to her side, she was surrounded by junevtud, we lit the candles and started singing to her, we didn't turn off the lights for the pictures hahahaha. We sang the long Venezuelan version with the background music on youtube and she blew out her candles wishing to leave the country with her son without so many problems.

Mi hijo y mi primo corrieron a su lado, estuvo rodeada de junevtud, encendimos las velas y comenzamos a cantarle, no apagamos las luces para las fotos jajajaja. Cantamos la versión Venezolana larga con la musica de fondo en youtube y ella apagó sus velitas deseando irse del país con su hijo sin tantos problemas.

I honestly ate a thin piece of cake, I was so full from lunch, but I wasn't going to miss the opportunity to eat it because it was chocolate filled with chocolate 🍫

Sinceramente me comí un pedacito delgado de torta, estaba muy llena del almuerzo, pero no iba aperder la oportunidad de comerla porque era de chocolate rellena con chocolate 🍫

At the end of the night we sat down for a little more time to talk because we were getting sleepy and then my husband and I took my aunts, my cousin, my cousin and my uncle!

Para terminar la noche nos sentamos un ratico más a conversar porque ya el sueño nos estaba venciendo y luego mi esposo y llevamos a mis tías, mi primo, mi prima y mi tío!.

Es necesario mantener la unión familiar, no perder el contacto, darnos cariño y respetarnos, esto hace que haya armonía y que momentos así se disfruta al máximo.
