The scenario that played out yesterday was one of the worst for the bets that I had as both in the 1st and the 2nd half, Genk took the lead early while crawling back and allowing Charleroi back in the game which made the corners go to the wrong side while the main bet pushed. Honestly though, I deserved to lose some money on that match and I'm just moving on to the next ones today...
Dender vs Charleroi
Dender lost with a 1-5 score away against Club Brugge but they actually played a solid 1st half and I still see them as alive in the league again after a start of the season where thei failed to score and take points. They are still last though and 9 points behind on the safe zone so it's a matter of trying to limit the damage as much as possible to go into the playdowns. However, in their last 3 matches, they also gave 3.48-2.21-3.09xg away which is an expensive price to pay for the 1.07-2.28-0.56xg they created. Standard is 7th in the standings which remains a small miracle as they pretty much week after week have confirmed that they are not good. Last week at home they lost with a 0-1 score against OHL in a match where both teams put more importance on not giving much away. I assume this will trurn into a match where Dender takes the initiative willing to go forward while Standard is happy to focus to keep things closed defensively while hoping to strike on the counter. Dender also has yet to win a match at home while Standard has won more away compared to home. Purely based on what they show last week in the 1st half against Brugge and the general flow they are in, I was willing to take 0.2 units on
Dender 1H +0 @ 1.830. If it wasn't for the xg of Standard being at an average of 0.62 in the last 8 away matches I might have taken some on the Standard Team total Over given how much xg Dender is giving away. It was seen last week that Dender was unable to keep up the good form from the 2nd half so I might keep that for the 2nd half at a better line.
Westerlo vs La Louviere
Westerlo has been a team how has been running under their xg which in the last weeks have turned around a bit while at the same time they only created 0.63 last week against Genk. They also mix matches where they either give away a ton of xg or almost nothing at all. So it's hard to really put a senseble pattern on it. La Louviere despite the previous 2 matches that both went over 2.5, I still see as a defensive under team. Last week in the 1st half, absolutely nothing happened until they gave away a Penalty. Westerlo is generaly seen as an over team while they are only 2W-7L-0P at home against the Over line. I do expect a match that starts out with midfield play and posession mostly for Westerlo who try to go forward but without enough risk to really create much or give much away. I took 0.2 units on
1H Under 1 @ 2.120 along with 0.094 units on
Under 2 @ 3.100 and 0.106 units on
Under 2.5 @ 2.039. All with an eye to possible decrease my exposure in-game.
Union vs Zulte-Waregem
Union at home has been an absolute force at least in the results as they are 7W-1L-0P against always quite heavy asian handicaps. They did have a week of rest but also miss Zorgane in the midfield which has become one of their important players. Zulte-Waregem started the season hot mainly because they had luck on their side when it came down to efficiency. In recent months though, this came down a lot and they have been in a streak of 7 matches without a win of which 5 ended in a draw. In their recent away games, they also failed to create much at just 0.09-0.42-0.74 while Union is the team who tends to give the least away at just 0.74xg on average. So it's just really hard to oppose Union but at the same time I don't really want to back them at a high handicap as they both miss Zorgane and haven't always been that convincing. I was tempted by Zulte+2 in case it would have gone to 1.8+ odds (1.68 was the highest) however, odds went the other way now at what feels like a fair -1.5 line for Union which kind of also is getting tempted. I do expect a defensive Zulte-Waregem who try to break down Union who take the initiative. The -2 line on the corners in the 1st half is just too high for me. I'm skipping for now and will see if anything interesting pops up in-game.
