On to the 2nd weeks of the playoffs and I'm highly looking forward to some football action this weekend where the playdowns now also will be included for a regular 8 matches starting with Mechelen vs Stvv tonight.

Kv Mechelen vs Sint-Truiden

Both these teams still are in the running for the 1st spot but at the same time especially in the case of Stvv it remains a question how much everyone is still motivated. They are 4 points behind on Gent and in case they one way or another would manage to end first they still have 2 matches against a playoff 1 team to get European football. Sint-Truiden managed to win 2-0 deserved at home against a Westerlo with many missing. Especially in the 1st half they were in total control with 80% possession after an early goal which came from a deflected ball. They look like they are complete and I'm quite sure that they will play this match with the intention to win to close the gap and to fully give up on playoff 2 in case they lose this one giving more youngsters a chance making sure their expensive players don't get injured so they can capitalize on those. Mechelen played away against OHL winning 2-3 in the last second of the match just being slight better overall. They did take control as the better team early on and managed to take a 0-2 lead before they got sloppy seeing OHL become better in the 2nd half nearly losing this match. They are just 1 point behind on AA Gent and I do think they will give it a go with the entire team. Schoofs who is a key player is questionable while Slimani is suspended and Antonio is injured. Looking at the line movement, I assume Schoofs will not play today. In the previous encounter, Stvv won 0-2 deserved. However, this is by no a reference as that was Mechelen before their transformation and Stvv while they were in peak form. Mechelen for me remains the team over the entire season that crushed to expectations against the asian handicap (+27.83% ROI betting them blindly). I don't expect a wide-open match but instead more 2 teams who start out with a study round. A goal could break things wide open. I do see Mechelen as the bigger favorite but I also want to see the final line-up if Schoofs is in it. My lean is on the 1H under but I swore not to take Unders in PO2. So the only real option is to back the home team but I need to see more first. No Pre-Game Bets
