Splinterlands | Djinn Apprentice Challenge

This week a Rare card from the Firs Splinter is highlighted in the Share Your Battle Challenge for Splinterlands. This is the Djinn Apprentice.

The way that Splinterlands plays right now is that you have a minority of key cards that can be used with many game rules and then a majority that shine in very specific situational setups. The question always is if these setups occur enough for the card to be worth the money and for the Djinn Apprentice even though a Level 5 only costs around 4$ I would argue this is not the case. The only real rules I can think of where it is one of the better options is on medium mana cap when monsters don't get to use their abilities and Water/Earth/Life/Dragon/Death summoners can't be chosen. By itself it's not a bad card and I guess for players on a budget who want to play just 1 or 2 summoners it might be useful also.

I played a bunch of matches waiting for game rules where using the Djinn Apprentice would be optimal but it never got close so I'm sharing another battle with the Fire Splinter in this battle challenge.

The fire Splinter by far was the best choice with Melee Monsters being allowed to attack from any place while there is no Armor since fire by default is low on armor which makes it vulnerable in many other matches and the +1 Melee boost from the summoner helps a lot. Both My opponent and me played a similar line-up which made it a fun match since it was possible to make a difference based on skill. I played my Lord Arianthus in 1st place because it counters against Melee with Shield (which virutally doubles the health) and also has the thorns ability to deal 2 damage to Melle monsters that attack. The Fineas Rage with really high Speed is always a good option and the Grum Flameblade in 3rd spot had gives it enough time to potentially increase its stats with the bloodlust ability. I also played the Molten Ogre as it needed to lower the melee attack from the opponent while it has also trample. The Cerberus I virutally put in last place as it can heal itself and also has the retalliate ability. At the end, I played a Ranged monster just to avoid getting fully countered on Melee cards. The Countess Sinash has really fun dynamics and also is pretty strong speeding up all the other monsters while being protected

Speed once agains showed to the the math-winning factor as the Fineas Rage with really high speed received a ton of misses which hurt the opponent especially since many of those attacks were for a high amount. This certainly was one of the more fun matchups and I'm glad right now that I'm playing manually again since archmage introduced their paid program which turns out to be extremely expensive making many turn off their bot including myself.
