There are 2 matches from Belgian Teams in the Europa League this week and I will cover them both here even though Union will play tomorrow.
Anderlecht vs Lyon
Anderlecht right now is still searching and building with many new players that arrived. So far this season they did well managing to qualify in Europe but have been rather mediocre in the league often against rather poor teams. This weekend, they managed to win with a 0-1 score against Kv Mechelen who have been nowhere. Anderlecht also only really had 1 serious test this season away against Union where they clearly failed to reach the level of their opponent. At the same time they also have underperformed their xg at 9xg created in 6 matches but only 4 goals scored. One of their central defenders got injured (Bianchone) while Hey, Sardella, Camara are other defensers who are still injured so they mainly will have limited options off the bench. So right now, my lean is always to possibly oppose Anderlecht against good teams. Lyon has a squad worth 259 Million opposed to Anderlecht who have 94 Million, so they should be the better team and I also expect ok motivation as they will want to start the Europa League good and not with a loss. Just based on these facts I took an early 0.3 unit bet on
Lyon -0.25 @ 1.836 which felt quite safe. However, afterward, some new came of some likely rotation for them in the qsuad which pushed the price up by now to 2.050. While I'm tempted to add more as it feels like an overreaction, I'm always cautious in these situations and don't let my ego take over. I already have 0.3 units on it wich is a small to medium bet and I don't want to make it any bigger. if anything I should have taken just 0.1 or 0.2 units with the option to add more today. So as much as I want to double down, I'm keeping it with what I took so far and I will see where the match goes.
Viktoria Plzen vs Union SG
My main angle on this match is one where Union will be extremely handicapped as they lost Macallister in the previous match who is one of the key defenders while the market kind of still keeps them at the defensive powerhouse team they were last season. The fact remains that Burgess left, Sykes got injured, Leysen also left and now they also have to do without Macallister. On top of this, goalkeeper scherpen also left and while Koffi has left a good impression, he's also one of those goalkeerpers who eventually at some point will lose them points with a stupid action. Also in one of the previous seasons, when Macallister was out, that really weighed on the team. Union will also be without their strong defensive midfieler Van De Perre who is suspended and without Zorgane who is the creative midfielder who is also suspended and Florucz who I see as a bit less important. So overall, I see this as a match with too many missing players for Union and the odds too much based on their defensive powerhouse and strong European reputations of last season. I honestly don't know enough of Plzen aside that they are no longer as strong as they were many years ago and that their squad is worth around 63 Million. So I stuck with just cautious bets of 0.2 units on Over 2.75 @ 2.042 & Viktoria Plzen Team Total Over 1.25 @ 1.960

Yeah it ended up in a match where Anderlecht team with many of the new players in it who never played together were no real match for the Lyon B-Squad. So far the new Anderlecht coach has left quite a good impression this season.

Solid breakdown on both matches. The Anderlecht numbers stand out most — underperforming their xG by 9 chances created to only 4 goals in 6 matches is a real gap between process and results, and with three defenders out, that's a lot to overcome against a squad worth over 4x more.
The Union situation makes sense too. Losing Mac Allister on top of an already thinned-out backline while the market is still pricing them as last season's defensive powerhouse is exactly the kind of value gap worth exploiting.
