My to-do things on a no-gadget weekend!

"You have no computer, mobile phone or gaming console for the entire weekend. Write at least 350 words about how you feel and why and how you handle having no devices to occupy yourself with"

There are quite a number of things I will love to do in absence of computer, mobile phone or gaming console! Let me break it down:

Camping

"Pack up pack up! Its time for some outdoor family fun!" Yeap, you guessed it, bringing the family out for a camp won't be so bad an idea. That will really cut one away from the urban city, enjoy the nature and company of the love ones right up close and personal!

Reading

I used to remember the good old times when I will pick up the morning papers from the doorstep, and settle down on the reading table to go through the news and articles. That took me a good one or two hours. It was a very good habit to catch up with the worldly matters, and gave me a good time to reflect on how fortunate I am to not be in the negative circumstances reported in the papers.

Apart from the this, I will really love to grab a few good books, to immerse myself into the fantasies of dungeons and dragons from fictitious books, or even to learn from experiences and tips from the self-improvement books.

Spring Cleaning

I am among the many whom, traditionally, only do a thorough clean up of the house before the New Year. In absence of the temptations of those electronic devices, I will definitely like to devote my time to do spring cleaning, clear the junks and wipe the dirty blinds/ windows/ corners of the house, as opposed to only doing it as an annual affair! Now for those who don't do housework, you will be surprised to learn that such chores can literally occupy at least a full day or even more to complete!

Closing Remarks.png

I must say, kudos to @galenkp for coming up with another thought provoking idea for #weekend-engagement. Can't wait to read what others have in mind for the same topic!

When I saw the family time, Camping, reading and spring cleaning, It just clicked to me that those are real activities designed for a healthy human mind. The rest that needs to accommodate all devices just make us live our day-to-day life like we are programmed. Life becomes so predictable with the use of devices.

@cravis, it seems like you are in the 10% that is ready to adapt to that change, so far 90% are impassioned by the thought of not having to use their device for a weekend

Thank you for the encouraging positive words! In my opinion, while devices are great enablers, they have ruined quite a number of good old ways 😆
