Hola amigos de esta linda y amigable comunidad de las agujas, les mando desde mi linda Venezuela un fuerte y caluroso abrazo. ¿Qué les parece? completé otro desafío. ¡Si señores! Hace como dos años que he querido hacerlo y gracias a este reto al fin me dediqué y la verdad es que estoy feliz. Este es mi cuarto desafío, pero no el último en mi lista. El anterior me ocupó todo un día, además tuve que modelar, tomar fotografías y editar mucho. Para hacer este casi no me moví 😁 me levanté tres o cuatro veces de la silla y estuve más de 5 horas trabajando. La verdad es que he descubierto en la costura una ocupación que me gusta realizar.

DOS EN UNO. HACIENDO RUCHES DE TELA POR PRIMERA VEZ. ¡A MANO!

Me levanté demasiado temprano este día ☕ con ganas de tomar café y estar ocupada. Mis plan era lavar, pero amaneció lloviendo por lo que cambié de planes. Todo comenzó porque cuando llueve la casa se moja y debo estar moviendo algunos muebles para protegerlos, entonces moví la mesita y me pareció que era el momento de hacer algo por ella porque además ya la tenía en la mira para un proyecto de arruchado.

Lo primero que hice fue tomar las medidas de la mesita. Esta mesita me la regaló mi suegra cuando me mudé a esta casa en el año 1993. Mi hijo menor "accidentalmente" me la rompió, por eso quise hacer algo para mejorar su apariencia.

Luego me fui al cuarto a buscar algún retazo de tela con la que pudiera hacer un tapete con faralado arruchado para la mesa. No conseguí nada 😕 así que me recosté un ratito a pensar. ¡Me acordé de un medio pantalón que había guardado! Este pantalón vino en el saco de ropas que recibí en octubre. Ya lo había cortado para darle tela a mi hermana. Así que comprobé su tamaño y gracias a Dios me alcanzó.

Al principio quería hacer dos tapetes, los dos con la base del mismo color. Uno sería todo del mismo color y al otro le haría el faralado de otro color con otras telas. Pero sobre la marcha esta idea cambio. Por eso es que corté dos piezas redondas en color salmón.

El medio pantalón me rindió para hacer todo el tapete y hasta más 😊 después que saqué los dos círculos tomé el sobrante y corté dos tiras calculando la medida de 126 cm de la mesa en su contorno. Cada una de estas tiras la corté a la mitad, es decir, saqué cuatro tiras en total. Luego las uní y con ellas hice el faralado o ruche.

Debo confesar que fui haciendo y aprendiendo de una vez, todo como me lo imaginé. He realizado ruches solo con basteado, pero esta vez quería hacer pinzas o plices para que se vieran más delicados. Estaba preocupada porque creí que las tiras no alcanzarían. Al final todo quedó perfecto. ¡Bueno, no todo!

En este paso estaba insegura de lo que haría. No sabía cómo empezar a coser el faralado en el círculo. Así que fui presentando el diseño y cuando lo ví bonito así empecé a coser hasta tener unido todo el faralado a la tela. ¡Pero! El tapete me quedó arrugado y yo lo quería liso. No sé que pasó aquí. Quizá no estaba tan redondo el círculo.

En fin, resolví reparar la falla reforzándolo, cosí por el extremo contrario el otro círculo y aproveché de tapar las puntadas. Me quedó mejor. ¡Me gustó! Aquí fue que me percaté que mientras hacía el tapete para la mesa también hacía un forro para cojín. Me embargó la duda y la emoción porque entonces no sabía con cuál nombre les presentaría mi desafío 🤦 el arruchado se vería genial tanto en el tapete como en el forro. ¡Dos en uno! ¡Tremendo desafío!

Con tanta emoción se me ocurrió aprovechar los otros residuos de tela e hice con ellos 6 tiras. Las uní y las convertí en trenzas, crinejas o chinchurritas. Quemé todas las hebras que sobresalen y después la cosí por sobre la costura de arriba del tapete. ¡La enchabé! Como podrán ver, de nuevo se arrugó el círculo del tapete. Pero Lara el cojín estará genial el forro.

A pesar de estos detalles de aprendiz de costurera 🙋 el tapete- cojín me quedó precioso. Lo más importante es que pude hacer y montar el faralado completando así otro desafío. Me encantó el resultado. Estoy feliz. De todos los que les he presentado este me hace sentir orgullosa, igualmente el de acolchado de telas; los dos son relevantes porque había querido aprender desde hace mucho. I've been wanting to do it for about two years and thanks to this challenge I finally did it and the truth is that I'm very happy. This is my fourth challenge, but not the last one on my list. The previous took me a whole day, plus I had to model, take pictures and edit a lot. To make this one I almost didn't move 😁 I got up three or four times from the chair and I spent more than 5 hours working. The truth is that I have discovered in sewing an occupation that I like to do.

TWO IN ONE. MAKING FABRIC RUCHES FOR THE FIRST TIME. BY HAND!

I woke up way too early this day ☕ looking forward to coffee and being busy. My plans were to wash, but it dawned raining so I changed my plans. It all started because when it rains the house gets wet and I have to be moving some furniture to protect it, so I moved the coffee table and it seemed like it was time to do something for it because I already had it in my sights for a wrinkling project.

The first thing I did was to take the measurements of the table. This little table was given to me by my mother-in-law when I moved into this house in 1993. My youngest son "accidentally" broke it, so I wanted to do something to improve its appearance.

Then I went to the bedroom to look for some scraps of fabric with which I could make a crumpled faralado mat for the table. I didn't get anything 😕 so I laid down for a little while to think. I remembered a half pair of pants I had saved! This pant came in the bag of clothes I received in October. I had already cut it to give fabric to my sister. So I checked its size and thank goodness it was enough for me.

At first I wanted to make two mats, both with the same color base. One would be all of the same color and the other one I would make the other color with other fabrics. But as I went along this idea changed. That's why I cut two round pieces in salmon color.

The half pant yielded me to make the whole mat and even more 😊 after I took out the two circles I took the excess and cut two strips calculating the measurement of 126 cm of the table in its contour. Each of these strips I cut in half, that is, I took out four strips in total. Then I joined them together and with them I made the faralado or ruche.

I must confess that I was doing and learning all at once, everything as I imagined it. I have done ruching only with baste, but this time I wanted to do tweezers or plices to make them look more delicate. I was worried because I didn't think the strips would be enough. In the end everything turned out perfect, well, not everything!

At this step I was unsure of what I would do. I didn't know how to start stitching the faralado on the circle. So I started laying out the design and when I saw that it looked nice I started stitching until I had all the faralado attached to the fabric. But! The mat was wrinkled and I wanted it smooth. I don't know what happened here. Maybe the circle wasn't so round.

Anyway, I decided to fix the flaw by reinforcing it, sewed the opposite end of the other circle and took advantage of the opportunity to cover the stitches. It was better, I liked it! It was here that I realized that while I was making the table mat I was also making a cushion cover. I was overcome with doubt and excitement because then I didn't know which name I would present my challenge to them 🤦 the ruffling would look great on both the table mat and the liner. two in one! what a challenge!

With so much excitement it occurred to me to take advantage of the other fabric scraps and I made 6 strips out of them. I joined them together and made them into braids, manes or chinchurritas. I burned all the strands that were sticking out and then sewed it over the top seam of the mat. I stitched it! As you can see, the mat circle wrinkled again. But Lara the cushion will look great with the lining.

Despite these details of apprentice seamstress 🙋 the mat-cushion looked beautiful to me. Most importantly, I was able to make and assemble the faralado completing another challenge. I loved the result. I am very happy. Of all the ones I have presented to you, this one makes me proud, as well as the fabric quilting one; both are relevant because I have wanted to learn for a long time.
