One of the things that constitutes war crime against any nation during conflict is the attacking of innocent and unarmed citizens as well as attacking the vulnerable in the society (women, children and the elderly).

Most of Russia's attacks during this ongoing war in Ukraine is targeted towards highly populated cities, leading to the deaths of many innocent citizens.

Just recently, the Ukrainians have discovered a mass grave site Izyum and it's very shocking that most of the victims of the Russian raid were tortured before they were finally killed. The group of people involved in the incident were a conglomeration of civilians and soldiers.

Investigators searching through a mass burial site in Ukraine have found evidence that some of the dead were tortured, including bodies with broken limbs and ropes around their necks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said.Source

Izyum is one of the Ukrainians cities that's recaptured by the Ukrainian soldier formerly occupied by the Russian military. After the recapture, the Ukrainian military have discovered a mass grave site believed to me a site that most Ukrainian were killed after Russia took the city some months ago.

In order to be sure of the people buried in the site, investigations are being carried out by some Ukrainian excavators to determine the conditions of the dead bodies before they were finally killed and buried.

In a video shared just hours after the exhumations began on Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that more than 400 graves were found at the site.
He said hundreds of civilian adults and children, as well as soldiers, had been found “tortured, shot, killed by shelling” near Izyum’s Pishchanske cemetery.Source

Just imagine the number of innocent citizens that were buried in the mass grave site. It should be noted that the 400 graves found in the site, isn't just for 400 people, it's a conglomeration of mass grave that accommodated more than 3 people or more.

Like I mentioned above, killing of children, women as well as the elderly in the society is against the international humanitarian laws governing war and war conducts.

To me this is a clear indication of war crimes as well as crime against humanity and I join millions of people all over the world to call for justice for the innocent Ukrainians killed by the Russian military.

Al Jazeera’s Hoda Abdel-Hamid visited the site where she reported seeing graves with simple wooden crosses. Some bore people’s names, date of birth and death, but others were just numbers.
“The site was grim, some [of the bodies] were in a very bad condition, some appeared to have lost their life a long time ago as their bodies were decomposing – It’s going to be a massive job for the forensic experts,” Abdel-Hamid said.Source

According to Abdel-Hamid, it'll take the forensic experts a lot of dedication to excavate the site in order to get the required information they needed to satisfy the general public about the ills of Russia in Ukraine.

From some already excavated grave, it's been discovered that the 17 bodies found in that grave was a group of Ukrainian military that were buried in it. Investigators had found earlier a marker indicating “Ukrainian troops”.

One of the clear evidence of torture is in the case of one man found by investigators whose hands were tied to the back before being shot and buried.

Oleg Synegubov, head ofthe Kharkiv regional administration said on Friday that 99 percent of exhumed bodies had signs of violent death, adding that there were likely more than 1,000 Ukrainian citizens tortured and killed in liberated territories of the region.

My humble submission is that it has taken long for the international community to take attacks against the war crimes committed by the Russian military. Bringing these Russian soldiers who have committed these crimes to book the better for everyone who values human life and human rights.

Bunch of fabrication like Bucha. First the graves were marked with crosses and any identification that was or could be recovered/corroborated. There wasn't mass graves, but individual graves. The Ukrainians refused to take their casualties collected by Allied Forces, numerous times.
