Zelenskiy certain that Russian-annexed Crimea will return to Ukraine

Hello Deep Dives platform! Good evening!

The entire news media platforms are all talking about the Russia-Ukraine war that has span over the 15 months. It's equally true that the effect of the war has been overwhelming with thousands of civilians dead and properties worth billion of dollars destroyed by shellings from both warring states, although the Ukrainian President Zelenskiy is confident that Russian-annexed Crimea will certainly return back to Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy set up a reintegration council on Thursday to advise on the restoration of Ukrainian rule over Crimea, saying liberation of the peninsula, seized by Russia in 2014, will "happen for certain".

He was speaking at a gathering in Kyiv to mark the anniversary of the mass Soviet-era deportation of Crimean Tatars from the peninsula in 1944.

Zelenskiy said that more and more countries realised it would be impossible "to return peace to international relations and the full force of international law" without first returning Crimea.

I think Zelenskiy's affirmation and certainty that peace will only return to the region if the Russian-annexed Crimea is returned to Ukraine proves to everyone that the war might last longer than expected.

The Ukrainian military and government have stayed up to this period to defend her territory and will not want those periods to be in vain.

The recent resistance from the Ukrainian military against Russian airstrikes in Bakhmut, shows that there's hope in keeping the city and over recapture other Russian held Ukraine.

With the counteroffensive operations preparing to take off against Russia and the fear that has overwhelmed the leader of the Wagner and his forces, Ukraine can take back the territories Russia annexed from her and also recapture cities that have been held by the Russian military since February 24, 2022.

Zelenskiy also said Ukraine was working hard to free Crimean Tatars who were being held in Russia.

Moscow has denied accusations of human rights abuses in Crimea, and says a referendum held after Russian forces seized the peninsula showed that Crimeans genuinely want to be part of Russia.

The referendum is not recognised by most countries
