I WOULD ERASE THIS EVENT FROM MY MEMORY IF I COULD

We have all had moments when we'd wish to turn back the hands of time and change the course of an event. I was still very young when I had this experience I am about to share, but it still remains so fresh in my memory. I don't think that could possibly be the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me, but it was embarrassing and painful at the same time. Plus, that's the memory that first came to my head when I saw the prompt for the first time.

On this particular day, I went with my mom to this market, and it was a very rowdy day. They sold pre-loved clothes there, and they were opening new bales on this day, so there was so much crowd. I was walking through the crowd, and I missed my mom, so I was trying to catch up with her. While rushing to go meet my mom, I mistakenly bumped into this woman, and the next thing that came out of her mouth before I could even apologize was so shocking.

This woman started shouting, and in her own words, she said, 'Eh, I know your type oh, I have packed all my money from my bag, so you cannot even see anything to steal from me'. She said a lot of other mean things, and I tried to tell her that she was mistaken, but she was looking at me with evil eyes and continued her rant. People passing by were now staring at me, and I quickly found my way out of the whole scene. All these happpened so so fast, it was as if I was dreaming, lol.

My mom was unaware of what had happened, and she was already disturbed, searching everywhere for me. We later saw each other, and I told her what happened in tears. She was so pained that the woman had gone, so she could caution her. I know the woman was just trying to be careful since the market can be a really crazy place, but I think she could have done better. I don't store faces in my head; if not, I would have prayed to meet her again to tell her how much her actions hurt me then.

You cannot imagine how emarrassed I felt😂 I didn't even look the part!, but I guess she would be thinking it was all tactics, lol. Somehow, it all feels a little funny now. I guess the fact that she accused me of what I didn't do and would never do in my life just made it very painful then. Plus, she didn't even allow me to say a word. I am so sure she would get home that day, telling people how she was almost robbed at the market, lol. If only she knew!

Let me add this quick one too.

I was in secondary school and I wore sandals to school that day instead of white sneakers. This senior seized my sandals and I begged him/her so much, but it was not released. I thought the person would give but didn't. I had to walk barefooted home, and guess what? My school was extremely far from my house then, I had to fake a leg injury all the way home🤣

Thanks for reading❤️

I personally consider people who just shout at people, especially in public place, to be uneducated, and it's not by going to school but by understanding simple things. Chances are, most people around would have looked at that woman to not be normal when they would have seen you, a young well-taken care of lady, to be the person she was saying all that too. I would have felt irritated too, but like you, I would have also walked away. That's the best thing.

By the way, very well done with the image sourcing! I knew you'd come around it.

Exactly! Because nobody said a word, they all probably knew she was mistaken.

I did not come around it at all o, my boss. I was planning to message you actually. Long-pressing the bold font of the canva image isn't bring the supposed options for me, and I don't even know why.

You should have sent a DM, then. Discord or WA is fine.

When you tried to open Canva.com, did it take you to the app on your phone instead? By the way, I submitted this post off yours into a community I belong to because I felt it needed more eyes on it.

Yes, it took me back to the app, and it was showing me more pictures from the owner of the picture.

And thank you so much for your support.

Okay. There's an alternative.

Do this instead. Go to any of the free sites that you know, like Unsplash, Pixabay, or Pexels and search for the image you want. When you find it, tap and hold on it and click "Copy image." Then head over to Canva, on the template you'd like to use, and paste it there. Afterwards, you can easily source the image by using the link...

At that instance, you really put your mom in the disturbed mode. I can actually understand that type of feelings and the truth is it will be difficult to always erase those kinds of feelings from our hands

It's really difficult, because it still remains fresh in my memory.

I can understand how this must have felt and I know it's the embarrassment of everyone looking at you that was terrible not even the actual thing. Sorry about that dear. And it's nice you also understood the woman's pov howbeit irrational.

A lot of drama go on in the market, if you are not strong enough they push into some kind of depression.

People are trying to be careful , but they do so in a wrong way, I believe someone she knows might have suffered same experience and she told you wanted to do the same. It's embarrassing, but glad you maintained your calm.

Lol, she would run with that narrative the whole day and explain it to anyone who'll listen, "I almost got robbed today by a girl today!" I think such misunderstandings are hard to solve because the other party wouldn't want to hear any of it thinking it's just another tactic.

Lol, I knew she would tell the story when she got home that day.

THIS!!! 👆😢

I think this is the hardest thing to swallow... false accusations - attacks on one's integrity. The hurt runs deep. It's like working through grief, especially if the accusation comes from someone you know, like, or respect. At least this woman meant nothing to you but that must have been very difficult when she made a public spectacle of it all. I'm sorry you had to experience that.

I read your post through Dreemport today.

Awww, thank you so much. False accusations can be very traumatizing, and coming from a stranger who you couldn't explain anything to was just awful.

Now this was all shades of wrong!! How dare she?!!

All these market women can be so annoying sometimes. Sorry for the embarrassment baby❤️

Ouch. Such embarrassing moments. It is a good thing these things aren't written on our faces and we can laugh about them much later.
