MY SCREENTIME HAS SKYROCKETED LATELY

To start with, this topic gave me a reality check I wasn't ready to admit before. In the last couple of days or weeks, I have been in front of my screen a lot more than normal. During the day, at night, in the midnight, I am right there surfing the internet. I feel very guilty most of the time and deep down, I do not want to get to a stage where I get 'addicted'. Most times, it's not even like I get to do something really productive, except at night. I wrote a post yesterday about how I seem to function better at night than during the day.

When I was in still in school, I used to have lesser screentime. You know, there used to be so much do do, but now, it's just house chores and other things I personally want to do. Most times, these things I really want to do usually get done at night, like keeping up with my duolingo and hive streaks, and attending to my online course. During the day, I am just something else that is totally unsignificant to my growth. I don't feel great about it, but it's always like am escape for real. I usually get overwhelmed a lot.

I thought about it and realized I could use other things to distract myself. Like reading a book, crocheting, Journaling, and so much more. Now that this has come to light, I know exactly what to do. I will actively work on it, so as the make the most out of all my days from now.

So, I usually know when I have had enough when it starts to feel as if I am glued to my screen. Like when I scroll on Instagram endlessly, from one reel to another, and to another. I call myself to order and drop my phone, but I usually get bored after, so I just sleep or pick it back up😂💔. Truth is that, it has not always been like this. I guess the fact that I seem to have a lot of free time lately has turned me to that. I could have used it to my advantage, and be productive with it, but I didn't. Hopefully, that changes soon.

To regulate it, I would say planning and time management is key. One should have a reason to use one's gadget and not get lost in the process by checking out things that one didn't plan for. The internet can be very addictive, let's not lie. There are a million and more contents waiting to be consumed and they are easily accessible. It is very easy to get carried away, moving for one content to another one, because it can be really interesting and you can even find juicy gists.

Imagine going to X to check a particular information and two inches away from that information, you are seeing this controversial tweet that has so much quotes and comments. You get curious, click on the tweet, see comments and banters and before you know it, you are glued, laughing your precious time away.

Figuring out the things you can do asides being on social media can be a good way to start reducing screen time. You might be amazed at the things you can discover. Also, I think it will aid one's growth in a lot of ways.

Thanks for reading❤️

Once I log into any of my social media accounts, I don't see myself leaving anytime soon, cause you know how this works, from looking at one thing you see another interesting telling yourself after this you're done then another one pops up it isn't fair. You're very correct time management is key, we should apportion some time to each thing.

Hello @creativepearl
We've noticed that your engagement with other authors is poor, and that's not encouraging at all. You need to make comments on the post of others and also reply to comments on your posts as well. This is to foster growth within the community.
