NEW YEAR IN A NEW PLACE || MY FONDEST HOLIDAY MEMORY

I can barely remember the details of this actual memory because it has actually been a while, but it was my first time I spent the last days of the year away from home. For it to be the fondest memory I can remember, it’s quite obvious that I had a really good time.

This particular time, I was in lagos(Nigeria) at my elder cousin’s place with my big mommy and my other cousins. It was actually a full house, but I was the only one there with all of them, my brother wasn’t with me. I remember that me being there was not actually planned, I had to wear my other cousin’s cloth in fact.

I have lived in Ibadan all my life and lagos was actually thrilling for me to be as at then. It was like the third time I would ever be in Lagos and in my past visit, I never really surfed the city. Being at my elder cousin’s place was actually a really beautiful experience. We drove to a lot of places, and I tried a lot of new things that was quite thrilling.

Since it was the end of the year, we all went to a church at night for the crossover night. It was a really large church and I had never been in such a gathering before. We left immediately we crossed over to the new year because it was actually crowdy and we couldn’t stay longer even with the fact that more fun things were happening at the time.

Normally, that city never sleeps so on our way back, we passed this park that was beautifully decorated and wasn’t so crowded. We all went in, had a lot of fun and also took pictures(I don’t know where they are now, I would have shared). We also bought suya and other different goodies as we headed home.

At home, we made a special delicacy and although it was my first time trying it out, I really enjoyed it. My cousins are very much older than I am and I was even quite younger then, but they treated me so well and I had a really good time spending the holiday with them. My eldest cousin’s husband was also very kind to me. Spending time with all of them made me feel more comfortable around them, as I was actually really shy initially. I really felt like staying longer but eventually, I had to leave for Ibadan few days after.

The truth is, I can’t remember all the details of this memory because it has actually been such a long time. However, any time the memory comes flashing, it just felt like one of the moments that I was truly and genuinely happy.

There has been a lot of holidays and we have sure made a lot of memories. This is the fondest I can’t think about right now and the fact that I have never narrated this to anyone made me want to put this exact memory out.
