Flipadelphia Day 14: The Bot Farms are Liquidating

avatar

Gold Foil Rewards cards are being liquidated.

None of this article is financial/investment/legal advice, it contains a strategic valuation analysis of speculative assets that can be subject to market fluctuations. You are suggested to seek out a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) for all investments and the author is not an RIA. Splinterlands' Terms of Service identifies Splinterlands/Steem Monsters as not being an Investment Company. As defined by the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations, Steem Monsters (the parent company of Splinterlands) and the Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) that was published by Steem Monsters can be argued to rise to the definition of being classified as Financial Institutions in the United States. This is a duty to warn and inform given that the actions to be described regard the valuation of assets and speculation of events to take place.

Before getting into the bot farms and what they are doing right now, let's just get a bit of a status update.

What's Out?

image.png

Getting some Regular Foil Rewards cards out of the way at prices that were near their tops to get more DEC to spend on other cards. Nothing too wild here.

Waiting to Swipe Right

image.png

The Level 3 Gold Foil Radiated Brute dropped too low in price and there were too many cards to clear before ever reaching the desired price point. The card was removed from the market and it will wait to be sold.

Gold Foil cards are just harder to sell, they may carry more value, but they are harder cards to sell than their Regular Foil counterparts.

What's In?

That price is not a misprint. That is a Level 2 Gold Foil Venari Bonesmith for $.756 and with the Monstermarket cash back, it was really a $.734 expenditure. The price was 11% less than the lowest price available.

Which leads us to the topic at hand...

The Liquidation is Upon Us

The A-Team (anhdaden146, aaronnn) and the Mahiepit (thaogia) bot farms are liquidating almost their entire Gold Foil card holdings. Another multi-account farm that is less notable (malos10) was selling cards at a 10% discount from the lowest prices that were out there.

These Collection Power figures are a far cry from where they were months ago, but also notable is this new seller account - anpht. These accounts are selling the cards that they could, but not everything all at once with the exception of the few Gold Foil cards possessed in the account.

These are the Gold Foil holdings for the anpht account, interestingly, all of cards are for sale RIGHT NOW.

The Gold Foil Rewards cards are especially being pushed at extremely competitive prices given the current price supports for each card.

Thaogia/Mahiepit Farm

This is another large farm, arguably the second-largest bot farm in Splinterlands.

Why This Liquidation Matters

This may be a last chance to get these Gold Foil Rewards and limited amount of Chaos Legion cards at these prices. It is a challenge in this brand new Soulbound Rewards era to gauge the price range for the tradeable Rewards cards from the Chaos Legion set. Prices spiked in late January 2023 after the announcement of their discontinuation. Prices fell in February to a level that is still higher than the December 2022 lows, but given that the cards will have new homes with disparate ownership, there will be less cards on the market.

It's something to keep an eye on as it presents a buying opportunity and it may not be the best time to sell off those Gold Foil Rewards cards. Rent those cards out and wait a little bit, their time will come.

Wow you did such a heavy research on these big bot farms. You stalking them. By the way are they still playing for the new rewards or no

They're the most important factor in Splinterlands. They comprise the most players, hold a large share of assets, and have dictated the secondary markets. Tracking what they are doing and how they are doing it is important.

Yes, they are playing for new rewards. I have not been keeping track as far as the scale is concerned. When I saw the prices in the secondary market and saw that the bot farms were selling, I decided to look into what they were doing and this post was what I found.

I agree with you that it's important. I'm glad that you are sharing and I hope it's seen more especially by the team. I do hope you can also share the scale they doing for the new rewards 😂 thanks

Well done! We have all noticed signficant drops in rental yields and this helps us understand that while not defeated many bot farms are now liquidating assets possibly to consolidate their farms into higher leagues for better rewards for Soulbound.
The real pressure will come I think when everyone starts needing to place their assets into land to produce goods. This is where I think we will see prices shifts to the upside for assets and possibly further bot capitulation because having 1000 bots battling wont be as profitable and will be too time consuming as opposed to owning some land and outsourcing your cards for that to aquire assets for your main battle accounts or to flip resources.
