Opposite side of the hall

This thematic entry entitled "opposite side of the hall", reminded me of a biblical phrase that one of my professors at university used to repeat, about the fact that people should never go out the same hallway they came in, as the correct and safest thing to do is to use the entrance on the opposite side.
At any event we attend, or even any shopping centre or venue we attend, the entrance and exit corridors are usually on the opposite side.
At my university, classrooms have an entrance on the side of the circulation corridor, and barred windows on the corridor side and an exit on the opposite side.
