Do You Take Hive Seriously?

source

Yesterday in a comment @bozz mentioned how he noticed that some people take Hive seriously when they should be seeing the fun aspect. This got me thinking as I do get what he is saying, but then again my thought process has changed quite considerably over my journey thus far. When we had the ATH back in November last year I was a little shocked, but that never changed how I viewed this place. Many have invested real money into Hive and like any investment you will take it seriously as to make a return is part of the plan.

For some users Hive is all they have and can understand that as not everyone has been dealt the same cards in life which kind of sucks. This would be seen in a different light compared to someone who was wealthy already.

If you have a value of $50K in your Hive wallet and that becomes $500K that will no doubt make you change how you view this place. This has to as that is human nature and a natural reaction. I think having $$$ value makes you more aware and doesn't necessarily remove the fun factor as I enjoy it more than ever these days.

There is no doubt Hive is a fun place with loads of entertaining options available whether it is gaming or the social aspect being part of a growing community. This ability to have fun and also earn is what makes this place so special and unique. I honestly believe the more you enjoy doing something the more you will earn as you will spend more time doing just that. What turned out to be a hobby could easily turn into a career and there is still much of the unknown factor mixed with hopium.

When you start out on Hive you don't really understand the earning capabilities that are here which will change constantly as your stake grows. I think up until last year I had dreams of one day being able to earn off crypto full time, but those were just dreams. When the prices rose at the back end of last year the idea of one day being able to earn a passive income became more real even if it was just a brief glimpse.

Hive in 3 or 5 years may be unrecognizable due to the development and size of the community. Being part of something that is growing shouldn't change the fun factor as there will be more offerings to try out. At some point this has to reflect in price which will result in some serious value on offer.

Those that have sufficient stake could easily be earning 30 Hive or more per day via curation and APR which may not seem like much when Hive is at 50c ($450 per month), but at $5 ($4500p/m) the hobby mindset is still there, but that mindset will change. I have never spent any of my crypto so in many ways it is still not real even though it is and possibly why I should spend some at some point to make it more real in my mind.

When you add real dollar value to anything people do change with many showing their true colors. I have seen how people change as when I was playing rugby as an amateur the sport turned professional which resulted in steroids suddenly became widely used. The ability to suddenly earn money from something you were doing for free did change the sport forever. Hive doesn't have to change you like the players changed their bodies as there is no need to.

What @bozz was saying is right as we are here to enjoy ourselves first and foremost and whatever happens will happen. I am just grateful to be part of this place and that is what is more important over everything else.

Am pleased to see this post friend @cryptoandcoffee
Yes you have raised an important topic here
To me it all depends on each person motive and view some people solemnly depends on hive as a means of income i mean as full time job and some see it as a side hustle some see it as fun some see it as hubby and a way of interacting with people's when they have issues in their mind all this are different reasons from different people.
Our perspective differs from one another but I must say anything that could get you some amount of dollars it's worth taken serious and that's my own opinion

As someone who was here since the Steemit era and been absent for months then coming back due to work, army service etc etc my piece of advice is that "fun" will keep you here.

What i mean by that is that if you have invested a certain amount of money and all you care is your return on investment and you constantly looking the prices, get disappointed, then start showing your frustration in forums, posts, and comments you most likely gonna lose money and leave forever.

If on the other hand you find a certain subject/category of things that you like, invest some time or money or both you will notice that you enjoy the time here. You will tell it to your friends, more and more people will come and eventually we will grow. At the same time i noticed the more fun people are having here they tend to be more focused and start visualizing new things and ideas that in turn can run in the Hive ecosystem!

100% correct as that is the ay to look at Hive as it is fun and that is what is going to keep you active no matter the price. Price is irrelevant for myself as I am here long term as I do enjoy it.

Same. I've been here over four years and I have seen the price move so much over that time if I were just here for the money I would have went mad long ago. The money is important, don't get me wrong. You are likely being lied to if someone tells you they aren't here for the money (including me). You also have to enjoy it though, that is what makes the price drops and stagnations manageable.

If you want to have fun, then the very nature of your Hive account means you're free to shitpost until your heart is content (pending front-end approval 😉).

But if you want to make money, then treat your Hive account like a business and those with stake will be most incentivised to reward you for the value you add.

Remember, it's those taking their time here seriously that add the most value and thus ensure the long term survival of our censorship-resistant network.

I reckon it should be fun and what will be will be otherwise it might lead to major disappointment if it doesn't work out.

You are right, that's natural thing. Humans start to take the things seriously when they see benefit in it.

If only many people see what hive blockchain can offer, they will see it from another good perspective
