Rugby World Cup 2023 Planning

The Rugby World Cup is just around the corner and those that are thinking of attending need to start looking at tickets. The World Cup kicks off on the 8th September in Paris with France against the New Zealand All blacks. This is a game I have penciled in already as the atmosphere with the French fans is magical.

I have one other game I am looking at attending and that is Ireland vs South Africa on the 23rd September also in Paris and saves me from having to travel all over the Parisian countryside.

The last time I attended the world Cup was back in 2015 and paid over the top prices for tickets and don't want to repeat that mistake again. Booking tickets early means you pay the ticket price and no additional fees from other sites.

Tickets are already available and unfortunately the packages will be sold first ie a category 4 buyer will have first options. Category 4 means you are buying tickets for every game your team is playing including the quarter finals if they are lucky enough to get that far.

I have no interest in quite a number of games so I tend to cherry pick and will include teams I just enjoy watching and don't support. If you love the sport there are a few stand out matches worth attending.

The pricing is not great but if you are smart can pick a few games saving some money along the way. If you are a French or England fan you are getting screwed as you can see by the pricing.

A single ticket for 1 French or English match will rush you for 260 or 255 Euros whilst a South African match will only cost 190 and the Scots 140. I see the value in taking a category 4 ticket with South Africa which would include 1 match vs Ireland and a quarter final which is 70 euros less than what the French and English supporters would pay.

Looking at the various tables that would mean a quarter final also in Paris vs New Zealand or France and definitely a great rugby experience.

I am not in favor of what the World Rugby Board has done with the ticketing prices as why should certain groups of supporters pay more than others. I do understand that there are certain games no one really wants to watch as they have to make up the numbers of teams somehow.

France is not a cheap country to visit at the best of times especially during a tournament this big lasting for just on 2 months. The best plan is to use the UK as a base and drive over watch the match spend the night and drive back the next day. Hopefully by this time I would already have moved back to the UK
or some where in Europe. Time will tell but may as well get a few tickets just in case as this is still 15 months away.

I can see some of the tout sites have already got tickets for England’s opening game starting at £400 going up to £4000. It’s insane!
