$8 Month Will Only Increase

source

I am sure 99% of you are aware that twitter is now going to charge $8 per month for verification of accounts. It doesn't bother me as who cares if they have a blue tick or not against their name showing they are verified.

The problem with social media is it runs peoples lives these days as if you are not on facebook constantly then you are on twitter instead. people have become so desperate for recognition at some level they actually think they are important and that people care.

I use twitter for looking for selected information, but ignore the crap that is being highlighted by the majority. if you care that there is now an $8 subscription fee being introduced then maybe you are part of the problem.

Back in the 1990's pay per view started to come into play on television with regard to sporting events such as World Championship boxing. I was hoping it would just be a craze and disappear, but the idiots started paying for the privilege which would have been free if they just boycotted the idea. Thirty years later and that $9.99 is now $84.99 or a once off $149.99 that covers you for the year allowing you a discount on future events.

Unfortunately once they know that you care and that you are willing to pay then you are going to pay far more. The $8 is a warm up to see how things go and expect within a few years to be paying well over $250 per year or $20 per month for having a blue tick.

Elon is no fool and will market the hell out of twitter with advertising and offering various levels of importance via a subscription. If you pay nothing then expect to not have much say and your tweets will suddenly be hard to find as you are irrelevant to the bigger business plan.

This is why a place like Leo Threads has taken on even more importance as it is free and doesn't have an egotistical CEO who thinks he is like a god. I know may rate Elon highly and think he is fantastic, but I am of the opinion that he is the exact opposite and have never been a fan. I think the world made him relevant, especially the crypto community hanging on his every word hoping he will buy into their useless project and spike the price like he did with Dodge.

If you sit back and think about it two of the most influential men in the World own social media sites which makes them even more relevant. If people didn't give two hoots about social media then they would be totally irrelevant as the world has become quite simple, like a herd of sheep. Unfortunately with Elon he has seen a way to profit out of everything he touches and doesn't care about freedom of speech for his reason for buying twitter even though many think he does.

When you have people being attacked in the street and people are standing by the wayside filming on their phones for their social media sites instead of helping whoever is in trouble you have a sick world. I see it as people having lost the plot of what is right and wrong and just accepting whatever is being said or decided because of who is saying it. Social media is not healthy even though it is meant to be a platform for free speech yet it now has a cost attached to that at $8 per month. It is time to push Leo Threads as if the site is going to grow then now is a prime opportunity.

"people have become so desperate for recognition at some level they actually think they are important and that people care."

I can't tell you how many times recently that I have thought about the delusion that others care what you think in general. Sure your family and friends, old and new may care, but the rest of us don't and vice versa. LOL !

Wouldn't it be nice if all of the sudden, everyone refused to do pay per view? Boom.... there goes the company.

I don't do twitter, so it's nothing to me, but I was curious what Elon would do once he got there. The people that pay of course will get priority and good luck with the free folks being seen again.

Things will stay like that unless enough people start to see a bigger picture and collectively start refusing to buy in. I'm guessing that will never happen with the last few generations so addicted to it all.

I don't know if $8 is right or not because it seems like he is still arguing about the price with other people ($20 before). However, I just don't like the subscription model and until he proves that the features are worth the value, I don't suggest anyone buy into it. At this point, we don't even know what extra features it comes with and I don't even know if this will solve the bot issue.

Some very opt points. I personally couldn't be bothered about Twitter. I am not going to change my viewpoint just because of Musk. I may change my viewpoint (in time) as a result of positive changes that can be seen and measured over time... right now, it's the same product... it's just been polished a bit.

This is the first I had heard about the fee, but I will likely be shutting down my two Twitter accounts if that is the case. I don't need any more monthly fees in my life. I don't honestly use Twitter as much as I used to anyway. Hopefully Leo gets Threads integrated into the mobile app soon so they can take advantage.
