São Paulo FC made the announcement on Thursday through its Twitter account. According to the Twitter post, payments in SHIB will be facilitated by cryptocurrency exchange Bitso, the team's official sponsor.

It is worth noting that the Bitso exchange included support for Shiba Inu on its platform in early January 2022.

Through this strategy, the São Paulo FC soccer team, the most popular and distinguished soccer club in Brazil, has positioned itself as the first soccer team in the country to accept digital assets as a payment method.

Club fans will be able to access the Morumbi stadium, located in the city of São Paulo, paying through cryptocurrencies. It should be noted that the São Paulo FC team has won the local league title six times and has had among its ranks elite players such as Cafú, Kaká, Dani Alves and Luis Fabiano.

Shiba Inu faces the accumulation of whales
Currently, the Shiba Inu is facing the accumulation of the whales, or large holders of cryptocurrencies.

According to data from “WhaleStats”, the Shiba Inu token (SHIB) is the 4th most held cryptocurrency in the top 100 Ethereum wallets. It should be noted that the SHIB token reached an all-time high of $0.00008845 dollars on October 28, 2021.

On June 3, an ETH whale famous for a series of purchases in May, “BlueWhale0073”, purchased 129,525,133,807 SHIB valued at $1,413,119. Likewise, the Shiba Inu price continues to consolidate within a narrow range between $0.00001060 and $0.00001130.

Shiba Inu founder retires from SHIB
On Tuesday, the Shiba Inu founder, identified on Twitter as @Ryoshi, announced that he is leaving the Shiba Inu ecosystem. The announcement came as a surprise to SHIB holders, as Ryoshi had not previously stated his desire to leave.

This news comes after Ryoshi removed all posts from his Twitter account and blog. Previously, Ryoshi's blog had hosted the founder's musings and updates on the network's many side projects, now, it hosts just two short farewell posts.

Every Shibarmy is a Ryoshi. He represents no one but the glory of Shibarmy!" Ryoshi expressed in the farewell posts. “I am not important, and one day I will leave without warning. Take SHIB and ride up my friends," he added.

However, as Ryoshi retires, the developers have assured investors that it will not be a difficult loss for SHIB. Another pseudonymous Shiba Inu developer, Shytoshi Kusama, said in a blog post that the departure is an "intended move" as massive SHIB projects get underway. Furthermore, Kusama expressed that the founder is leaving it "in the hands of the SHIB Army".

The Shiba Inu Metaverse, while slowly developing through land auctions, is still in the early stages. On the other hand, the developers are still preparing the layer 2 Shibarium network for release, perhaps one of the biggest updates SHIB has seen so far.

Despite the concerns of many SHIB holders about the founder's departure, the fear has not been reflected in the market. Currently, SHIB's daily volume remains on par with its previous daily averages.
