Minotaurs Solve An Intricate Labyrinth

Two minotaurs enter a mind-bending labyrinth full of twists and turns... through each others splitscreen. A 100 percent free title on Steam here.

A Platformer With One Downside... Too Short

DYO is a platform puzzler unlike any I have played thus far. The gameplay is unique and offers a few challenges and tricks to progress (despite not being too difficult). The mechanics were incredibly fun, in fact the only downside on this game was that it was TOO short. The plus/downside being you need a person to play with locally or control both minotaur simultaneously (wowza). This game was a blast to play with someone as a couch co-op puzzler and I would highly recommend playing it as such. The total gameplay is a few hours maximum, but it is a LOT of fun.

Gameplay: A New Perspective

The game itself features 12 starting levels that acquaint the players with the games integral mechanics of changing and locking the dual perspective of the screen to platform across. After that the game splits into 3 different variations on the same mechanics and has a total of roughly a dozen or so more levels. All of these levels are great fun.

Despite the gameplay being based purely on the interaction between the players' split screens it offers a variety of play

From pushing blocks and changing their angles in interesting and clever ways.

To using the perspective of size to the advantage of the players.

and even platforming based on player position and locking simultaneously.

At the very end the final two levels put the collective mechanics of the 3 level branches together for some combined puzzle elements.

The final level ends the game much too soon, the mechanics introduced were all rather fun and original especially for a free couch co-op platformer.

Looks and Controls

The game is well drawn and the controls are fun and easy to understand. I call the look and feel "Smooth and well done". Honestly quite the feat from a free game such as this, well done. The artwork is crisp and refreshing and the greek sculpture aesthetic does the game justice.

Achievements: Completed

It isn't in every game you are able to shelve it and say you completed EVERY achievement therein. However me and my local co-op guest are able to walk away with our heads held high. Knowing that there isn't another objective to complete was a very satisfying box to check. It took 5 hours for us to finish it but it was a fun road indeed, worth the time.

Just Tell Me How Many Stars Damn it?

I would give this game 4/5 stars ONLY because it is too short. If it had more levels and more puzzles to complete this title would be an easy 5/5 hands down. Everyone who played it had a blast and was disappointed there weren't more levels to play. It brings new concepts to the puzzle platform genre, which is hard to do these days as it is a massive genre and this game does it for FREE. Recommended

Thanks for taking the time to read the review of this excellent free platformer. Hopefully you'll give it a try. For a walkthrough, more gaming stuff, tournaments, and whatever else I might be writing don't forget to follow. Cheers.

It's always a good feeling to tick of all achievements in a game. Good job!

Thanks for dropping by man. And yes, it was a good feeling. A short but fun game I'd recommend to anyone who is into platforming. Cheers and have some !PIZZA for the road.
