Ladies of Hive Community Contest #292 - My Entry

Good day members of the Ladies of Hive community. So while checking out the Ladies of Hive community yesterday, I found the contest currently hosted by your community so it caught my interest because the topic is worth writing about. So here is my entry for this week’s contest. I decided to write on the topic “My favorite thing about the current season in my country and the thing I dislike the most about it”

Introduction:

Wet season is the current season in my country Nigeria at the moment and it one of the natural phenomenon that comes in it due season and this season are more beneficial while it sometimes brings negative efffect to the society as well. So I’ll be discussing both the positive and negative effects of the season.

The things l like most about wet season are as follows:

1: Calm weather condition
2: Cold and refreshing weather
3: The weather is healthy to plant
4: The Rain makes the environment cleaner

Calm Weather Condition

During this season, the weather is so calm that one could feel every bit of it and enjoy his/herself to the brim. It is always chilly so one will absolutely enjoy their sleep at night. Trust me this weather will make you sleep like a baby. You also won’t be sweaty when your fan is turned off or when your AC is off.

Cool and refreshing

Every day seems so cool that even if u had a rough or stressful day you could easily feel cool and refresh in preparation for the next day. Your body system feels so refreshed, your body temperature gets calm too. You will not have to shower over and over again like you do during the dry season.

The weather is healthy to plant

During this period plant get so healthy because of how calm and serene the weather is, grasses get more greener because of the wet season. So farmers who are aware that the Wet season is approaching hurry and plant their seeds so that the plants can germinate in due time before the wet season sets in. They are a couple of plants that are best planted during this season for good results.

The environment becomes cleaner

The wet season brings so much rain and due to the excess rain, the water from the rain helps to clean the road. So the streets are more cleaner during the wet season. This is what I have observed from this season.

Things l dislike about wet season

1: Illnesses are rampant
2: Businesses get slow
3: Flooding
4: Everything damps

Illnesses are rampant

Some humans are allergic to cold which causes harm to their health, so during the wet season, This set of people randomly get sick and this is one main disadvantage about this season.

Businesses get slow

Manufacturers and business owners tend to produce less products so they can meet up with market demands as market demands reduces especially on perishable goods. This is due to the fact that the rainy or wet season hinders most costumers from accessing or purchasing products due to the weather condition. As a result , business do not move the way they do during dry season.

Flooding

This happens as the result of excessive rainfall and some roads that are not well constructed get flooded due to excessive water and the inability of this water to flow well. This is the reason most government officials implement drainages as part of their projects during their tenure in office because this flooding can be harmful to human life when the rain is severe.

Everything damps

Everything gets dampened and they struggle to get dry since there is no sun and even if there is, it comes just for a short while. So it is advisable to have a washing machine and dryer at home so one can use that for laundry purposes. Without this, they are most times one can do laundry and it takes almost 3-4 days for the clothes to totally dry up due to lack of heat from the sun.
