Design sem nome.png

Since I love to write about sport and I also love to analyze data, I decide to do an analysis of some football leagues.

I hope that you like it.

I decided to start analyzing the Football League of Portugal just because it's from my country. In the future I will present an analysis of other leagues such as the Premier League, Serie A, La Liga, etc.

If there is any league that you would like to see analyzed, please leave it in the comments.

As we can see in the chart, Sporting CP has the club that sold more players (24) and Santa Clara and GD Estoril de Praia were the clubs that bought more player (21).

Income/Expenses

As aforementioned, it was moved 613 Millions euros during the transfer market, but what was the club that have more income? What was club with more expenses?

Let's check

image.png

Looking at the chart it is easily to identify that SL Benfica it was the club that had more income from selling players (127 million euros) and was also the club that spent more money to buy players (64 million euros).
The couple of clubs like GD EStoril de Praia, FC Paços de Ferreira, Portimomense SC, FC Vizela, FC Arouca, Casa Pia FC and GD Chaves do not make any euros from the sale of players.
CS Maritimo it was the only club who didn't spend a single euro to sign players.

FC Porto was the club that paid the most for a single player (20 million euros) and SL Benfica was the club that earned the most in a single transfer (75 million euros).

Players Movements per position

Bought Players

image.png

The positions that most led Portuguese clubs to hire were Center Back and Center Forward, both, with a total of 43 players bought for these positions.
On the other hand, the least signed position was Right Wingback with a total of 18 signed players.

Sold Players

image.png

The positions where we saw players being sold were Center Forward (43 players signed) and Center Back (41 players signed).
The position with the fewest signings was Right Wingback with 17 signings.

Looking at the numbers for both purchases and sales by position, it would make sense that both positions would end up repeating themselves, as the natural move would be to buy the positions that have the most exits.

Next analysis will be about Premier League.

I hope to see you in my next analysis.
