Qatar 2022: Portugal squad list

The final Brazil squad list for Qatar was announced.

In my opinion, there was no big surprise in the list of players called up for the World Cup by Portugal. However, several players who were present at the previous World Cup will not be and it seems that gradually there is a reshuffle of the selection.

In goal, we will see Rui Patrício go from undisputed starter to substitute, as Diogo Costa will certainly be the starting goalkeeper due to everything he has shown in the service of FC Porto.

In the middle of the defense, the only doubt is if Pepe will be in physical condition and in shape to have a good World Cup since he has been injured since October 8th and hasn't played any games. Many say that the call-up of young António Silva (18-year-old SL Benfica centre-back) is not surprising given the level of exhibition he has shown both in the Champions League and in the Portuguese Championship.

On the sides, the starters should undoubtedly be Nuno Mendes and João Cancelo.

In midfield, it is difficult to identify who will be the starting players, as they are all exceptional players. In my opinion I would use Ruben Neves, Vitinha and Bruno Fernandes or Octávio. But if we want a tougher defensive midfielder, we can play with Palhinha.

In attack, we count on Cristiano Ronaldo who despite the poor season at Manchester United will always be an important player, Bernardo Silva to play as a winger and on the other side I would use Rafael Leão who plays at a great level at AC Milan.

One thing that what we can see is that players who had been called up to the Nations League are no longer called up:
