An Ayam Bakar experience at Lepak One Corner (Yishun)

It's time for another food post! This time, I traveled all the way to Yishun to check out a place with an awesome vibe that’s also said to serve great food. The name of the place? Lepak One Corner!

"Lepak" is a Malay word that means "hang out." That’s exactly why they’ve turned it into the perfect spot to relax and unwind.

Just look at how inviting the entrance is—it's filled with lights and vibrant colors! The place was originally an industrial building before being transformed into this food court with minimal renovation. They even repurposed old shipping containers for the food stalls, painting them in bold, bright colors. I really love the vibe here, and that alone makes me want to come back often!

I had no specific food in mind when I came here since I wasn’t expecting anything in particular. As I walked around, one stall caught my attention—Yassin Kampung.

The aroma from their grilling station immediately drew me in, so I decided to check out their menu. It looks like they specialize in fusion cuisine.

I ordered Ayam Bakar, which is my go-to dish whenever I have Indonesian food. I love their grilled chicken, especially the rich, dark sweet sauce they use to coat it.

1000011406.jpg

According to the staff, their Ayam Bakar is prepared by first boiling the chicken, then deep-frying it. For the final touch, they grill it and coat it with their signature sauce.

The result is tender meat with perfectly cooked skin. Thanks to the grilling, it also develops a nice smoky flavor. I think it’s a clever way to infuse flavors into the chicken. The only downside is that some parts of the meat are a bit tough due to the multiple cooking processes it goes through.

I also enjoyed the side dishes. The cucumber adds a refreshing touch, while the deep-fried tofu brings an interesting texture and flavor to the dish.

Overall, I enjoyed my visit to Lepak One Corner, from its vibrant atmosphere to the flavorful Ayam Bakar. While the chicken had a slight toughness in some parts, the smoky flavor and rich sauce made up for it. I’d definitely come back to explore more dishes and soak in the chill vibes of this unique food court!

The food culture here in Singapore is a mixture of different cuisines because of the many different nationalities living here.

Maybe it's the caramel that made it so addictive 😁

The place was attractive especially the color of the lettering of the name of the place. Indeed, the chicken become tough when it was cook few times. It's enough if the chicken was already boil before it grill.
