Hello Hivers!

How is your life now?

I just started a new chapter in my life and I am making a lot of adjustments as of this moment.

Moving to a new country is not easy and requires enough research and understanding to adapt to the new environment. At this point, it doesn't matter if the new country where I reside in is better because so far I don't know how I can adjust to the new situation I have. So far, what I'm noticing is that the people, environment, system, food, and the society are different. The one thing that is almost similar to where I come from is the climate and the weather.

The biggest adjustment I will make is adopting the new environment and society. How can I assimilate in this country? In case you're wondering, I just moved to Singapore!

I've been to Singapore before the pandemic happened and I noticed that a lot has changed since then. There are many new infrastructures and of course I feel that the mindset is different since the pandemic happened.

My impression is that I feel like life here is more comfortable and probably easier compared to 5 years ago... but is it really?

Everything is more expensive than before, from food to transportation. All of the basic needs also cost higher than before. This is probably the one aspect that will give me the hard time living here. There's a higher pressure for me to live within my means and there's a need to strictly manage my finances until I'm able to figure out how things work around here.

One thing that I notice among the rooms for rent is that cooking and visitors are not allowed (mostly). I believe the pandemic has something to do with it. Maybe there is still "fear" about the virus and contamination among households. I'm not really sure about it but it's my best guess.

I still have a lot to learn in my new environment and so far I haven't met anyone local that I can talk to about it. Finding a friend or group of friends to help me assimilate may be a good option for me.

But how if many of the people here are mostly focused on their own business... to start a conversation is already a challenge. However, I'm hopeful that I will be able to meet new friends in this country.

Any Hivers in this country?

Awww. It would be a lot difficult but I believe you can navigate and with time it'll get easier.
