Curator Cat: A Mouse in the House? No, Smudgeballs!

Greetings Fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia and surrounding communities!

Hope your week is getting off to a good start!

What do I see?

Excitement of the morning was that I thought- just for a moment- that there was a mouse in the house. But it was an odd looking mouse... very long haired.

But I was mistaken, it was just a "Smudgeball!" That's what we call the large clumps of fur Smudge is shedding due to it being spring and her winter coat falling out.

What the....? It's a Smudgeball!

As best we can guess, Smudge's ancestors must have been some kind of Nordic mountain cats who grew a thick fluffy coat in the wintertime, only to shed it all again for summer.

Smudge has previously gone to the groomer in the spring to get a "haircut" to get the Smudgeballs out of her fur, but this year she started shedding rather early.

Smudge!

We've also done our own grooming on her to minimize the issue, but she seems to naturally create her own version of "dreadlocks," and they are almost impossible to brush out.

Instead, Smudge seems just groom herself and somehow knows when one of those dreadlockish Smudgeballs is ready to let go... and then it seems like a small furry creature is sitting somewhere in the corner!

This cat has a LOT of fur!

Regardless, our old lady kitty seems to be quite enjoying her springtime, and is quite healthy again after her little health crisis this winter!

Meanwhile, I am continuing to help the Dad-Hooman with his art projects, as both Hoomans get ramped up for their out-of-town trip at the end of the month.

These painted stones have been verified by a cat!

We're still not sure who's going to come and cat sit while they are gone, but I hope it's our friend "Uncle Chris," who's really nice and likes cats... and he has a nice calm energy, which I appreciate!

Anyway, thanks for coming by and visiting, and I hope the rest of your week goes well!

=^..^=

Love Cats? Get Involved in Hive's Cat Communties!

If you're a cat lover and often/sometimes post pictures or other content that includes your feline friends, why not become an active part of Hive's growing Cat Communities?

These are some of the more active Cat Communities — why not join them ALL? Many of the allow you to share your cat posts, even if you started at a different community!

HiveCats by @curatorcat is a central "gathering place" for cat content on Hive; promoting the use of the #hivecats tag for feline content!

Cat Snaps by @manorvillemike is a place to post pictures of your cats when you don't have a whole lot to say beyond just sharing your cute photos!

Caturday by @saboin is a community where we get to celebrate posts relating to Saturday — aka "Caturday" — our own special day!

Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS!

Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community.

There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!
