I hope your weekend has been going well — around here Saturday is always going well because Saturday means Caturday!

Quiet Weekend

It's actually a fairly quiet weekend with us because the Mom-Hooman has gone out of town to visit a friend who lives in Eastern Washington, which means it's a lot quieter in the house.

I always forget just how much Hoomans talk to each other... until one of them isn't here.

It also reminds me of the old rule of thumb for cats which is that there should never be more cats than there are hands in a household! At the moment there are the Dad-Hooman's two hands and Smudge and myself... so we're just about OK. Alas, Daisy the dog is missing out!

Gratitude is Important

I think it's important that we sometimes take the time to stop and be grateful for the things we do have in our lives.

It's easy to get caught in the pattern where we only notice all the things that have gone wrong, and the things that are going *right8 and are by our sides all the time get quietly overlooked.

So take a moment to be grateful for what you have, even if what you have isn't very much!

Smudge is Grateful, WE Are Grateful!

My furry housemate Smudge is a good example of gratitude.

In October of last year Smudge— who is really a "senior citizen" cat — was facing an uncertain future because her Hooman mom had accepted a job in the Dominican Republic and would be moving to a somewhat primitive part of the country that would be very uncomfortable for an old cat.

Thankfully my Hoomans decided to take over as Smudge's caretaker and she has settled in very well here.

We know she's doing well because her eyesight (cataracts) has actually gotten better, and her issues with itchy and irritated skin have gotten better and she no longer has little scabs where she was incessantly scratching herself.

So Smudge is grateful to have a good life in her old age, and we are grateful that we were able to give an old cat a gentle and loving place in her golden years!

I Like Slow Uptrends and Stability!

I'm actually enjoying the fact that the crypto sphere seems to be fairly quiet at the moment.

Maybe the wild gyrations we so often experience are fun and profitable for some, but I'd rather have things the way they are at the moment where we're seeing a slow but steady uptrend and no wild swings.

It's easier on the nerves to check in and see your portfolio and account value being up one or two percent — or even flat — every day, as opposed to gaining 50% one day and losing 50% the next day.

Just Keep Stacking!

I've noticed that many Hoomans are very fond of using the term "stacking" when it comes to describing the process of building their crypto investment portfolios.

I don't have much, but it's still fun to see how far we can get purely by merit of having a cat blog here on Hive!

So I'm just gonna keep on stacking my Hive Power, as well as investing the various tokens that I get from Hive-Engine tribes.

Cat Snaps by @manorvillemike is a place to post pictures of your cats when you don't have a whole lot to say beyond just sharing your cute photos!

Caturday Community by @saboin is a community where we get to celebrate posts relating to Saturday — aka "Caturday" — our own special day!

Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS! It has a lot of subscribers but is not very active.

Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community; it's there, but not very active.

Last, but certainly not least, a special shoutout to the Hive Pets Community which has become quite active and typically has quite a bit of cat content!

There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!
