Curator Cat: Building Community or Building Wealth — It’s All a Matter of Patience

Greetings Fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia and surrounding communities!

We talk a lot about things like ”building wealth” and ”building community” and there seems to be a myriad of different opinions about how to best do so.

As I was reviewing my own modest crypto holdings this morning — and visiting my own Hive Cats Community — I got to thinking about how perhaps the most overlooked and underappreciated aspect of both wealth building and community building is the element of patience.

Patience is no magic pill and it's no magic formula for anything, and aside from just giving things time to come to fruition it's not even a strategy. As such, perhaps we overlook it because it's not very ”sexy” and you can't exactly write books and create workshops around ”Be Patient.”

Of course it's important to remember that being patient isn't the same thing as being passive or even apathetic. When you're patient it's an active process; apathy and passiveness are more a case of going to sleep to what's happening right in front of you.

But patience means — at least to me — sticking to your plans and carrying them out regardless of whether it's sunny outside or cold and raining, metaphorically speaking. And you stick to your investment strategy whether it's a bear market or a bull market; you keep promoting your community regardless of whether you have 10 new people joining an hour or nobody is joined for a week.

Patience means that you are guided by your own inner knowing, rather than eternally adjusting your strategy every time somebody says or does something new, or every time something good or bad happens in the surrounding environment.

But you never go to sleep and just assume everything is on "cruise control." Stay awake and aware!

Stay aware!

The stock market is a good example. Although there are — of course — exceptions, the vast majority of people who pick solid and fundamentally sound securities and simply HODL them tend to fare better than those who are eternally trying to ”time the market” on a daily basis, while adjusting their strategy every time there's even a small movement.

One of the very visual examples of "patience in action" that I like to think of, is that if somebody who keeps a jar of change on their dresser and throws the coins in their pocket into the jar every night when they get undressed.

A few cents here and there doesn't sound like much, but at the end of a couple of years you might suddenly discover that you have enough money in the jar for a weekend getaway you otherwise thought you couldn't afford.

We just need to be patient!

An occasional nap on the ironing board can be a good thing!

Over the years, I've been quietly stacking a number of the tiny drip dividends I've been getting from various investment tokens I hold on Hive-Engine.

None of those tiny dividend payments really amount to much of anything, but I'd be willing to bet that in a couple of years from now they'll actually add up to something... and along the way I get to feel good about the fact that I am supporting some project in a small way.

For example, I have slowly accumulated a small stake in the popular Splinterlands game, consisting of SPS, DEC and SPT tokens in varying amounts. Hey, for this small cat, $50-off of value pretty much "out of thin air" is worth collecting!

These tiny drips may LOOK insignificant, but over time they are not! (Screen shot from Hive-Engine Explorer)

My point here is that most things don't happen in "quantum leaps," but in little bits, all the time.

Therefore, Patience really matters!

Thanks for stopping by!

Love Cats? Get Involved in Hive's Cat Communties!

If you're a cat lover and often/sometimes post pictures or other content that includes your feline friends, why not become an active part of Hive's growing Cat Communities?

These are some of the more active Cat Communities — why not join them ALL? Remember, you can also "cross-post" your cat posts to them!

HiveCats by @curatorcat is a central "gathering place" for cat content on Hive; promoting the use of the #hivecats tag for feline content!

Cat Snaps by @manorvillemike is a place to post pictures of your cats when you don't have a whole lot to say beyond just sharing your cute photos!

Caturday Community by @saboin is a community where we get to celebrate posts relating to Saturday — aka "Caturday" — our own special day!

Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS! It has a lot of subscribers but is not very active.

Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community; it's there, but not very active.

Last, but certainly not least, a special shoutout to the recently formed Hive Pets Community which has become quite active and has quite a bit of cat content!

There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!
