Greetings, Fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia and surrounding communities!

We have made it through the first few days of the month of October and have arrived at the first weekend of the month, which also means that we have arrived at the first Caturday of the month!

Caturday is, of course, my favorite day of the week because it's where we get to share lots of cat pictures with everyone, following a 20+ year old web tradition.

We have had a pretty quiet week around here, because the Hoomans have been feeling a little bit "under the weather" as the Mom-Hooman calls it — ever since their outing last weekend to a fair where they were selling their creative things.

The Dad-Hooman said something about there being lots of people who were sneezing and coughing, and he keeps referring to something called "flu season" which I'm not sure what is. But it sounds like something that's best avoided!

Anyway, the Hoomans are at home and taking it easy and we cats are asleep (mostly!) in our nice and warm beds around the house.

Since the winter half of the year is quickly approaching, both Hoomans are now increasingly working on their indoor projects... which we all like to get into the middle of!

One of the things the Dad-Hooman is into — both for fun and for a living — is dealing with old postage stamps for collectors and that is a great thing for a cat to get in the middle of, especially when there is sorting to be done!

In just the last few days I have managed to successfully rearrange several of the piles that were on the table!

Sadly, the Dad-Hooman has spoiled part of the fun by now putting a sheet of plywood over his work whenever he is not in the room. Doesn't he understand that cats just want to have fun???

Meanwhile, we're having a nice sunny day today and some of the leaves have started to drop off the trees which means that there are several sunny spots around the house.

Of course the sun doesn't provide as much warmth as it did a few months ago but that's OK since we are indoors, and the house is sheltered and warm.

It has definitely put the Dad-Hooman in somewhat better mood that the crypto markets have been a little more positive as of late, and we are happy that our own Hive token has recovered a little bit too.

We are very grateful that we have a community like this that we can visit, that not only allows us to keep this cat blog but also allows us to build a little savings balance that could potentially be used if there was a vet emergency or something other unexpected.

But we are here for the long run and plan to continue building our stake in Hive. The next goal is to reach 10,000 Hive Power!

Anyway, we will continue to observe black cat appreciation month which runs for all of October all the way up to Halloween. Black Cats definitely are special! Being one, I should know!

Sunny nap

As seems to happen at this time of the year, our very fuzzy housemate Smudge has now grown in her full winter coat and looks like a fur ball. The Mom-Hooman has to groom her on a regular basis to keep all that hair from matting up, but at least Smudge stays nice and warm.

At age 21 she is really a remarkable cat, and continues to be quite healthy, especially given her age. Next month she will actually have been with us for four years, which is far longer than we could have hoped for!
