Over the past couple of years, the Hive Cats Community has periodically published a weekly collection showcasing the best of recent "Caturday" and cat related posts across the greater Hive Community.

The underlying intention was always to both collect groups of posts relating to our feline friends — pulled from a range of communities and tags — and to give their authors a little more exposure.

To publish these collections, we have been using the "CCC" or "Curated Collections" feature that's part of the @peakd interface... and it's a very nice feature that organizes posts neatly, and is easy to use for those among us who are not technically inclined.

However, those benefits are perhaps slightly lost because the PeakD formatting doesn't really "translate" equally well across different front ends.

For example, if you're using Hive.blog, these posts show up as nothing more than a "wall of text" with links... and definitely not that inspiring to look at.

Lack of Attention?

Putting this out there — and not just related specifically to the Hive Cats community, but for all who feature "Collections" — as I consider whether this is really the highest and best way to promote and draw attention to a group of related posts?

It takes a good bit of time to put these Collection posts together, and they rarely seem like they get much attention... and typically significantly less than the community's sporadic "normal" posts.

So we've been wondering if we'd be better served by presenting our Curated Caturday Collections, the "old fashioned" way instead... hard coding thumbnail images from each featured post and forgetting all about PeakD's handy format.

After all, there's not much point in wasting time on creating something nobody's going to look at, right?

Or Something Else?

Of course, there's also the unanswered question of whether people simply don't care about showcase-type posts featuring groups of posts relating to a particular topic or interest?

We think we know the answer to this, because there are some such posts in the greater Hive ecosystem that seem to garner a lot of interaction and engagement, but it would still be nice to hear from our own community.

Love Cats? Get Involved in Hive's Cat Communties!

If you're a cat lover and often/sometimes post pictures or other content that includes your feline friends, why not become an active part of Hive's growing Cat Communities?

These are some of the more active Cat Communities — why not join them ALL? Many of the allow you to share your cat posts, even if you started at a different community!

HiveCats by @curatorcat is a central "gathering place" for cat content on Hive; promoting the use of the #hivecats tag for feline content!

Cat Snaps by @manorvillemike is a place to post pictures of your cats when you don't have a whole lot to say beyond just sharing your cute photos!

Caturday by @saboin is a community where we get to celebrate posts relating to Saturday — aka "Caturday" — our own special day!

Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS!

Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community.

There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!
