CineTV Contest: The Cinderella film never ends for us!

If a man goes for a walk for an hour and a film is made showing all the things he sees on the road he walks, and I watch that film, I still don't get sleepy. I get bored while watching a film, I can change the film, but I don't get sleepy!

I also don't think that films that make you sleepy are bad films. Sometimes even a very good production can make someone sleepy, just like my daughter.

I believe that daughters can bond with their fathers more easily and love their fathers more. Maybe I privilege myself because I am a father.

I was the happiest person in the world when my daughter was born, don't look at me saying this as if it is a past feeling; I am still the happiest person in the world when it comes to my daughter. I think the same is true for every parent.

When she was born, I was afraid of hurting her because I was afraid to hold her in my arms because she was small enough to fit almost in the palm of my one hand. I used to lay it on my chest and tell her stories. I knew he didn't understand what I was saying or the events in the story I was telling, but I did it just so he could recognize my voice, feel my scent and form an unbreakable bond with me.

I told her fairy tales like Snow White - Cinderella - Rapunzel. When he got a little older and started to talk, he would say that he loved Rapunzel the most and asked me to tell stories about him all the time, but he would fall asleep best with the Cinderella story.

My daughter is now 10 years old and does not fall asleep easily with a bedtime story. Since I have called her a "child of the times" several times, she emphasises that she wants to use the needs of the time; she says that she wants to fall asleep and stay asleep by playing games, watching videos...

...but it's not allowed on school days!

In 2015, we watched the film Cinderella together. The film was translated faithfully to the fairy tale and was quite entertaining. Even though I knew every scene and what was going to happen by heart because of the fairy tale, I found the film fun and watched it with pleasure.

Of course, my daughter liked it too, but as usual, she bombarded me with questions while watching the film!

  • Why doesn't Ella leave the house or kick her stepmother out?
  • If I grow my hair as long as Ella's hair, can I dye it the same colour?
  • If Ella is Cinderella, why do they call her Ella?
  • Why isn't the film called Ella?

If I do not give a logical and explained answer to each question, the question begets the question and goes on and on. Because I know, I am very careful about what I answer.

We laughed the most when the mice and lizards were humanised by the fairy to drive the pumpkin carriage. We were most excited during Cinderella's efforts to leave the ball at the stroke of midnight. We were most sad at the scene where Ella's (Cinderella) father dies!

And we fell asleep during the prince's search for the lost princess with a glass slipper in his hand, so my daughter fell asleep. She couldn't watch the scene where the prince puts the glass slipper on the princess, just like when she was a baby; whenever I told her the fairy tale of Cinderella, she would already be asleep when Cinderella put on the glass slipper and met her prince.

For my daughter, the Cinderella fairy tale and the film end when Cinderella loses one of her glass slippers at the ball and returns home. Even though she is getting older, her behaviour does not change. Because she keeps falling asleep, we have not yet reached the happy ending of Cinderella!

Who are you?

Our children are our students and at the same time they teach us, answering questions and knowing how to answer them well is an art because my son is still 19 years old and he asks a lot of questions, hahaha sometimes he just makes me desperate, but I still answer him, Cristian also falls asleep with some movies and although they grow up there are behaviors that do not change in them.

My daughter started secondary education this year. I thought that in a few years her questions would disappear or diminish. If she continues until she is 19, she probably won't like my answers. Of course, I am joking, the important thing is that they are healthy, trying to learn and being detailed actually makes me happy. It means that my daughter has something in common with Cristian. I hope they will both be successful in their lives.

Thank you very much.
