I see myself as a Gamer. Not a Crypto-Bro Gamer chasing the money-making aspect. But I chase the Prestige of beating my competition with skills and finess.

What ruins it for me is the upfront cost or pre-alpha sale to a company who promises everything but without any track record. Insane amount of people are getting scammed over these overpromises and underdevelopment.

E.g. LoL (League of Legends) are free to download and play, but they still make millions on skins and sponsor deals.

Take CS:GO(Counter-Strike: Global Offensive), it became free in the late 2018, before that you had to buy it. Its was still massively successful. Why? Because it was created by a company with a mass amount of Experience and the company Valve had already made 2-3 Games in this category prior! (Depending if you count 1.5 as a standalone game or a mod). (I know you have to pay for prime)
Meaning they could charge for it, but they also made it free and added cases to went with the same model as LoL(Riot).

PsyberX is properly one of the most interesting games within Crypto at the moment. But they still run the crypto model of pre-alpha sale bullshit. (You can get their token by delegating HP)

I am personally not a fan. I like the "f2p" model more and then you can buy ingame cases for skins and such.
