Mind Dump on engagement and comments.

Quick mind dump on what I see as engaging comments and what I don't see as engaging comments

On my way to work this morning I was browsing @ecency, looking around at posts and comments. Al lot of posts don't get any comments and a lot of comments are just spammy-nothing-saying and "useless" in terms of engagement.

Comments like "Nice post" or "I like it" doesn't really allow the Author or you to engage in a prolonged conversation about the certain topic. (Granted, if the is just amazing and spot on and you have nothing more to add or no more questions, a simple comment like "Good post, I learned a lot" could be valuable, you could also state what you learned though).

If you on the other hand can add something valuable or "useful" to the topic or have more questions about it, that can spark engagement, not only from the author but also from other users!

This is what I would call engagement. Real engagement! And the conversation afterwards doesn't have to be long.

An other way to try and engage with people is to ask question at the end of your posts to engage your readers!(I myself is really bad at this, but its all a learning curve)

You made a good point here, I will start to add that to my post, making useful suggestions and observation will also help the author to improve significantly because the aim of every author is to pass the right message to the audience. When there is misinformation or tendency to misinform, the author's attention should be drawn to it for possible correction. Comments shouldn't be to attract favour or vote only but also to support author's view, suggest, contribute or to encourage the author by stating what you have learned

Al lot of posts don't get any comments and a lot of comments are just spammy-nothing-saying and "useless" in terms of engagement.

Not to mention the sea of bot comments under many posts. Nowadays the average number of comments per post is around 3, and most of those are bot comments.

Actually I often write about this, and some people tell me that I am complaining, and "no one likes a complainer", while I am (now us) writing down just/only a fact. The truth about the general lack of the real human interaction on this platform.

The proof for I am not complaining is the fact that nowadays I can be found in (or around) the top 10 of the engagement league. I was the 6th last time. And also the 6th before that.

I regularly interact with others.

So I am really trying to add my part to the commenting and to the engagement, but on the other hand it feels good to see that more and more people are writing down the straight truth about the general lack of the real human interaction on this platform.

ye well, this was just a general post about this. I am personally not commenting a lot either (I don't really have the energy for it).

I think my post was more on the side of "If you comment, do this and not that" kinda thingy :D
Instead of "complaining" about the lack of engagement.

Honestly dno. I am just here, chilling xD

I also understand that part. Nowadays many people leave a bunch of meaningless, spam-like comments under various posts in the hope of getting the attention of people.
